Player evaluation: Giuliano

JEFF GIULIANO
This season: 53 games, 0 goals, 6 assists, minus-9 rating.
Positives: A versatile forward who can give a team quality energy-line minutes. Giuliano is a responsible player and a strong skater with a good attitude, and he's a solid defensive player.
Negatives: There's little to suggest that Giuliano will ever develop much of an offensive game, and he's also limited by his slight build, as he is generously listed at 5-foot-9 and 205 pounds.
Looking ahead: It seems doubtful that Giuliano has a future in Los Angeles. He's the type of player that teams like to have around, because he's well liked and a hard worker, but the Kings seem more likely to give his minutes to an up-and-coming player who has more of an upside.
Contract situation: Unrestricted free agent.
Puts in a good effort, but is way too small to be an effective and punishing forechecker. Did well when paired with Ellis on the PK. I would like to see Brady Murray given the opportunity to fill this role. Murray may be undersized as well, but has more speed and offensive ability. Giuliano is a well respected leader in Manchester and I believe that's where he is most valuable. He could still be called up by the Kings if needed next season.
Guiliano is a dime a dozen in this league, there are plenty of these guys at Manchester who can also put the puck in the net - even the 3 or 4 empty netters Guiliano missed this season. Sorry, but the "new" NHL no longer has a role for these types of players. Gautier, Murray, etc are bigger and have more offensive skills. Thanks for the effort Jeff. Good luck to you.
cant doubt his attitude, but unfortunately, that just isnt enough for the NHL
I'm kind of split on this one. Yes, I'd prefer someone younger and with more of an edge than Giuliano but the guy is fearless in sacrificing himself for his team. I've never seen a guy do so much to block a shot on the PK. I think Ellis and Giuliano are probably two guys that the late-season PK benefitted from having,.
The guy gives 110% every night but I have to agree that one of the kids should get this role. Hopefully someone with a little more size to bang bodies with. He tries but he's just so small....and he has worse hands than Ivanans.
Mike I agree 100%
Too bad he doesn't have the slightest bit of an offensive game because that would make him that much more valuable. I like him a lot, but he seems more like a 5th line guy.
