Is it just me, or do the comments that Lombardi made concerning Filatov make him sound quite a bit like Kopitar in terms of character and personality? Given that the Kings’ need and interest is in drafting a defenseman it is hard to imagine that Lombardi would go with Filatov at the number two slot, but I wonder what interest there might be in the Kings moving into a position to get Filatov should he fall out of the top five or ten.

Poor Deano. The guy looks dead tired. He could use some rest after the draft! (Then wake back up and get on the phones July 1st) :P

The end was priceless. I wouldn’t mind getting Filatov, but if we traded up for another high pick I would rather get one of the other top defensemen before Filatov. Only if we couldn’t get high enough to get schenn, myers or pietrangelo (assuming we could get like a 6-8th pick) on top of who get with the #2 would I pick up Filatov. He looks great, but I think its smarter to have two top defensive prospects so that if one doesn’t pan out as he’s supposed to then we aren’t screwed. And if both develop great and we need some offense, their trade value would be high in a year or two.

Which team do you guys think is most likely to be willing to move a top pick?

I’d say St. Louis, they are maybe deeper than anyone in prospects already and could use a proven player in his mid-late twenties. Then again Nashville is in a good place to move a top 15 pick. Phoenix is the only other team I could imagine trading their 1st rounder.

cammy, the star’s 1st round and Danny Taylor for a top 10 pick. too much?

    To Nashville:
    -Lord Cammi
    -Lauri Tukonen
    -Tom Preissing
    -Dallas 1st roundick
    -a second round pick

    To L.A.
    -Shea Weber OR Ryan Suter
    -Alexander Radulov

As much as I would like Suter I am not sure why Nashville who was ranked 12th in scoring would want him. Perhaps to help their PP but it’s giving up a lot for a specialist category.

Hey Rich, have the Kings signed Josh Kidd, or are they planning to? I was extremely impressed with him at the end of the Monarchs season, and thought that he was our best defenseman the short time he was there.

Thanks again for the work you do on this blog. The interviews are top notch, and your diligence is much appreciated.

    Hi Rich,
Have you heard anything about the Kings “strongly” working a deal for Patrick Marleau?

Maybe giving away Cams and one of our picks?

    Didn’t DL draft PM?

  • Moondoggie

Interesting pause at the end…consider trading the 2nd pick??? Filatov? I think you could read more into that interview than was said….Still, I think the pick is going to be Bogosian. That 2nd 1st rounder….ahhhhh, the mystery pick. What will DL do with that one???

    Stay tuned….

Why is it always Nashville? The Kings should look at making a deal with Florida. They don’t even have a pick in the first round and they have an RF in Bouwmeester. There’s a good young defensemen they could keep for a long time if they could work out a deal. Why not dangle Cammi, the Dallas pick, another pick and a prospect or 2. Hell I’d even throw in Preissing in place of a prospect.

  • JDM

I’d easily trade all of that for Bouwmeester. He’s one of my favorite defensemen in the league. Really fast for a big guy. He’s everything Preissing should be but in a bigger, stronger, more talented body.

Bouwmeester, Johnson, Visnovsky, Bogosian would make for a mean top 4.
