Positive changes
As you've, uh, probably noticed, the look of the blog has changed significantly this week. Not only that, it's actually MUCH more functional now. The number of headaches on my end has decreased dramatically, and there are a couple changes for you. First of all, the ``search'' function actually works now (imagine that!) and there are a couple other ways to access older posts. The list of ``categories,'' in the bottom-right section, will take you to posts that pertain to those particular subjects. The ``tag cloud,'' in the bottom-left section, is a neat feature that shows which names/subjects are being mentioned most. These are still a work in progress, because I have to go back and ``tag'' previous entries, so give it a couple weeks before it's completely done.
For now, if anyone has problems accessing, reading, posting comments or anything of the sort, please let me know, at rich.hammond@dailynews.com. Now is the time to fix all the bugs, so let me know if there are any issues. And, as always, thanks for the support.

Rich Hammond has covered the Kings, on a full-time or part-time basis, since the 2000-01 season. He was the beat writer for the entire John Torchetti era and has witnessed Bob Miller singing country music in a Nashville honky-tonk bar. A native of Los Angeles, Rich has worked at the Daily News since 1999 and also serves as the paper's deputy sports editor. E-mail Rich at
Jill Painter joined the Daily News in 2000 and during the last eight years she's covered the Dodgers, Cal State Northridge, UCLA, Kings, golf and everything in between. Even though she's from Colorado, she still freezes in the Staples Center press box but always manages to thaw her fingers in time to make deadline. E-mail Jill at

just out of curiousity.. does clicking on the ads help you out in any way?
I'm not going to start a campaign for people to click ads, but yes, it does help the company...
I forgot and can't find it online, but how long is Crawford signed? Is it normAl for minor league coaches to be signed one year at a time? Rich, can you see Morris coaching the kings in 09-10, if Crawford has a bad year? By that time, I'm sure a huge part of the kings roster will have passed thru Manchester. Just wondering your opinion. Thanks
Rich, this post reminded me to fix the tag cloud: it should now have the most popular tags on top, instead of them being in alphabetical order.
dude Rich the site is great. at first my reaction was that i actually liked the old simpler one (after you goto a website like 5 times a day you begin to grow an affinity for anything...much like most 80s songs) but me thinks the new digs are snazzy.
Rich ... is there any way to make the transition between comments more obvious? Like put the person's name in a different color or font? Its a bit difficult to see where one ends and the next starts. Maybe its just me but I like to see who comments ..especially Anthony's brilliant brain-farts.
looks great and thanks for all your hard work and dedication.
I don't mean to be negative, but I miss seeing the site in its gloriously purple majesty. The blue made me think I had stumbled into the Dodgers blog or something.
The best thing about it is that the IE AND Firefox browsers aren't cutting out every time I access the site... At least it was doing that during the last two weeks or so...before the improvements...
Other than that minor problem that seems to be fixed...keep up the good work and LET'S GO KINGS!!!!!
I'm definitely lovin' the new look Rich so major props to you man! You're definitely making the off-season entertaining...
Hey Rich...i can barely tell when a comment ends and begins...maybe a line or something to separates comments would work.
BTW, great job on this blog!!
