Gee are you sure Barry? I mean you're going to be coaching the #1 overall draft pick in this year's draft...

On a side note. TSN is doing a blog of the draft combine. Thought this was interesting...

There are literally dozens of people following Filatov. Just by coincidence, perhaps, there was one point during his testing when Filatov was almost eye-to-eye with Kings GM Dean Lombardi, who just happens to hold the second overall pick in the draft. It's not like Lombardi was paying more attention to Filatov than anyone else, but it was an interesting snapshot to see them facing each other in such close quarters.

There goes ESPN's top hockey analyst

@Anonymous: ESPN had hockey analysts? I didn't think they knew hockey was still being played.

The worst part of Melrose coaching Tampa is now the Kings have a bona fide rival in the John Tavares sweepstakes.

Shucks, when I read the headline, I thought Barry was coming back to coach the Kings, teach them some toughness, and get L.A. back in the playoffs. But then I remembered, this is the Kings, and if there's a way to screw things up, they will. If it's true, Tampa Bay is making a wise move.

Melrose just said on ESPN News that there's nothing to him coaching in Tampa Bay. He said he's very happy at espn. Although he did say that several teams have contacted him about coaching.

I don't know what to think about this. The guy hasn't worked in 13 years as a coach. You'd think there would be someone a little more qualified to takeover. I have nothing against him personally. He did lead the Kings, along with Anthony Robbins, to the SC finals. He can't be that bad. Oh yeah, he did have some talented player named Gretzky by his side. I would think there would have to be an up and comer from the minors that deserved a shot more than Barry. I guess the NHL is a "good ol' boy" league. It's not what you know, it's who you know! Good luck Barry and prove me wrong.

On a personal note to my fellow hockey fans: I went a little wild with my stimulus check and bought a nice 50 inch Panasonic Plasma TV. I plan to watch my first high-def hockey game tonight. I am pretty stoked to see what the fuss is all about. Just thought I'd share.

Are you kidding me Paul? Tampa never should have finished last and now they Mike Smith in goal which should help a lot. Throw Stamkos at second line center and remember how bad their division sucks, and they'll be playoff bound next year. The Tavares Sweepstakes will somehow be won by Toronto
