USA 5, Kopitar 1

| | Comments (5) |

Officially, that's USA 5, Slovenia 1. Anyone else sense a trend in these World Championships? I wonder if one player has ever scored ALL of the goals for his team in a major international tournament... I suppose it's possible. Anyway, Dustin Brown and Patrick O'Sullivan had assists for Team USA, which next has a big showdown with Canada on Tuesday. Slovenia plays Latvia on Tuesday and probably needs a victory to avoid being relegated to the lower division in next year's World Championships.

Poor Kopitar. It must be difficult to carry an entire team on your shoulders.
He's done that for 2 teams thus far this year.

It'll probably be better for Slovenia to be dropped to the lower division next year because they won't have Anze Kopitar to carry them against the big boys. He will be busy leading the Kings in the playoffs!

anthony, I think you are forgetting about Brown. He stepped up his play a lot this year.

That just means he, and the team are going to that much better for it when he doesnt have to shoulder the load by himself any longer.

And I do believe he had some help with Brownie and Sully this year.

Anyways its kinda staggering to see Slovenia lose two games by a combined score of 10-2 and Kopi's got 2 goals on six shots and is even for tourney. At least hes doing his part.
