What might have been...

Congats to Washington's Bruce Boudreau, who won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's best coach this season. Boudreau over 21 games into the season and, in his first experience as a NHL coach, led the Caps to the playoffs. Boudreau spent 2001-05 as coach of the Manchester Monarchs, the Kings' American Hockey League affiliate, but they, uh, fired him. Oops...

Congrats to Bruce Boudreau for winning, but if I remember correctly, he was s**t canned due to the fact the Manchester never made it past the first round of the playoffs during his tenure. Is history repeating itself?

P.S. I would've given the award to the Montreal coach.

Don't forget that Boudreau was up for the Kings assistant coach job when Dave Tippett left. The job went to John VanBoxmeer. Ouch!!

Well, check Craig Hartsburg off the list.

Bruce Boudreau sucked in Manchester. Couldn't get out of the 1st round. And name me one player that he had a major influence on developing down there.

After Boudreau was fired - along with his assistants, the "brain trust" brought one of the assistants back. Jim Hughes was one of the assitants who had been fired. He, too, was sh**tcanned after one less-than-stellar regular & playoff season.

Bruce deserved this award.

If he were still in the Kings' system, it would never have happened.

FYI - "DeBoer is expected to interview for the vacant head coaching job with the Los Angeles Kings this weekend."

You won't find a bigger supported of Coach Boudreau here in LA than me... OK, well maybe any number of the guys that played for him down in Manchester, but among the non-hockey player community, ME :-)

As nice a guy as you will ever meet in hockey circles, and very knowledgeable. Not getting through the first round of the playoffs with the Monarchs notwithstanding, the guy is loved by his players, and would have been the PERFECT guy to coach the Kings for a LONG time, save for the decisions of Kevin Gilmore and Hubie McDonough. Oh well. It's fun to be a Caps fan. Go Steckel!

Vegas has The kings at 100 to win for the cup, more than any other team in the league, I'm predicting the Islanders will be dead last though. 100 to one is pretty tempting

No trophy bring with it a luster that is more fleeting than that of the Jack Adams. Boudreau joins Lemaire and Quenneville as the only Jack Adams winners to get their teams into the playoffs in 2007-08 and we've only had three repeat winners since 95 (and we all saw what that playoff birth got Quenneville). Bob Francis (2002) is coaching in the Finnish league, that's how awesome the Adams is.
