Ratfarts! I was hoping the Kings could make a run at Commodore. However, at least they didn't have to get locked into a 5-year contract for his services...

Are the Kings going to get anyone in Free Agency? Is LA that much of an undesirable location to free agents? Come on Columbus got a free agent to come to a city where they have never made the playoffs.

I post my first and last name because I think I'm really important. said:

um,we are in FULL REBUILD, and have youth slated for all the open slots, why do we need to sign anyone else?

Getting Khabi is the only thing you can point towards.

We do not to go crazy for FA's but what we need are:

1. Another Defenseman (Excluding Blake)
2. Winger to replace Cammy

This will not break the bank.

How long does rebuilding last? Its year 3 under the Dean Lombardi Plan..

We don't need a d-man because of the Gauthier trade. And we don't need a winger because we have Purcell coming up. The only players DL will sign will be a scrub or 2 and Blake.

i know a lot of people wanted this guy, but this is not a good deal. he's not worth this much.

I expect the winger to replace Cammy will be a one year fix UFA signed sometime before camp (e.g. Burtuzzi, Demitra). The defenseman COULD be Orpik, or it could be someone of the one year fix variety, like Gauthier (e.g. Modry).

Doughty, Greene, Johnson, Gauthier, Preissing, Harrold, Blake, Martinez. I don't think DL is going to worry too much about signing anyone else.

Also, did anyone else notice that in the LAT this morning they mentioned Calder as not coming back? Was that a misprint?

If a guy doesn't want to play here, then why give him the big bucks to be miserable in a place he doesn't care for and not help the team. I could go with what we have now and on the farm and pick Tavares.

DL said he wasn't going to get anyone during this year's Free Agency period. Why is everyone all pissed that nothing is going on? It's going to be up to the kids this year so don't plan on anything happening.

Point taken Eric... the money doesn't bother me, but I wouldn't want him for 5 years. 2 or 3 years, yes, but not 5.

It would be cool to get Huselius to play with Fro. Purcell may end up being a 3rd line / 2nd PP unit guy. Never know. COuldn't hurt to pick up a winger.

Add Blake and I'm sold on the defense for the coming seasons, supposing Martinez will be ready this or next year.

How many Stanley Cup Winning Teams has Dean Lombardi contructed in the past?

Pat, how many Stanley Cup winning teams have any GM constructed in the past?

Answer that and stay fashionable.

How many FA's have the Red Wings signed? Aside from re-signing their own players...

Reason is, these teams who are going crazy doing this don't have a farm system because they can't draft worth a crap.

Purcell is not ready to play on the second line, he would be a good fit on the 3rd line. Demitra would be a nice if we can get in to a 2 yr. 7 mill. total deal. Orpik is the #1 guy I wanted all off season

Purcell MIGHT be ready for the second line, if he's the rookie with two vets, Handzus and Frolov. It's impossible to know for sure till we get there, of course. But now I'm really looking forward to prospects camp.
