Here's one of the big ones... TSN reports that Marian Hossa has signed a one-year, $7.4-million contract with the Detroit Red Wings.

The strong gets stronger... I just might vomit.
Sounds like he just wants to have the best chance for a ring before he signs somewhere else where he may never have the opportunity to win one again.
Great, another reason for the bandwagon Wings fans to pack Staples.
Amazing how while the Ducks have perrenial cap problems, Detroit is able to keep their core together and add huge pieces year after year. There's only a few teams in this league that could have convinced Hossa to accept a one-year deal...The wings being one of them.
Holy %$^&!!!
Oh man, Anthony is gonna lose it. Brace yourselves.
If you REALLY think about it, this actually kinda helps us.
Think...in another year, basically nobody but Detroit will have room to sign him but us.
As much as I hate seeing him in Detroit, I have to admit that I'm impressed. Signing a 1-year deal is pretty ballsy when you know the guy could have a got a hell of alot more somewhere else. I guess that shows his first priority is to win.
A one year deal??? That's odd.
Check out the big brain on Hossa. The Pens lose Malone, Roberts, Hall and possibly Orpik and Hossa signs with Detroit the day after they sign Stuart. Much better chance at winning the Cup with the Wings. And people thought (me included) that Hossa jilted the Pens because money really was more important to him than winning.
Wow....probably not the smartest financial move for Hossa. I understand going where you think you can win but wasn't Pittsburgh offering a longer term deal for equal if not more money? Hope for his sake Detroit wins it all again, otherwise this could be one of the dumbest contract choices ever. His agent must be having a coronary.
Oh well. If I had to live in Detroit, and be surrounded by fans who look like an extra from the movie "8 mile" or look like they do all their clothes shopping from the Kid Rock Line in the "Hot Topic" catalog, I would want to be paid at least 8 million a year, too.
I Hope Hossa really enjoys Little Ceasar's Pizza, because that's about the extent of Detroit's Culinary contributions to the world
I hear the reason the Wing's players are in such good shape is due to the off ice training regime. It seems that dodging bullets, jumping over abandoned cars, and climbing through burned out buildings is really good to build stamina and strong muscles.
Since LGK is on total lockdown, I guess ITK is the place to be now.
On topic though: Speechless.
WTF?? I was hoping Hossa would stay in the East... Credit goes to Ken Holland for keeping the Chicken Wings loaded....
A Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Hossa PP unit? With Lidstrom and Rafalski on the point?
Scare-Y!
With GM and Ford going bankrupt by the end of the year, Detroit could only afford a one year deal.
