I’m told the Kings are encouraged by the offseason work of goalie Jason LaBarbera, who had surgery to repair a sports hernia. LaBarbera, it seems, has dropped a significant amount of weight and is paying close attention to a summer workout program. It will be interesting to see how the goalie situation shakes out, but don’t we say that every year?

The goalies spent the past week up in Vancouver, working with goalie coach Bill Ranford. I don’t know the exact number of goalies up there, but last I heard, LaBarbera, Bernier, Zatkoff, Quick and Taylor were all headed up there. Ersberg too, most likely, since he’s now under contract.

Speaking of offseason workouts, Dustin Brown and Alexander Frolov have practically taken up residence at the El Segundo training facility this summer.
