    Who’s this D’Orazio & Legault.

  • Reaper

Legault is a giant. Definately would fit the enforcer role for Ontario. This is also the 2nd time D’Orazio has been in a Kings camp, are they going to sign him or just keep inviting him to camps?

  • simonsez

9 defensemen and 10 forwards… it’ll be interesting to see what they do for the rookie games. Maybe move a couple D-men up to forward to get 4 full lines?

  • Datacloud

Nice to see that all of the top prospects in the rookie camp are defensemen and goaltenders, with the exception of Moller and Simmonds.

  • yesitscal

It’ll be interesting to see how Way Simmons has improved over last training camp. He got a good long look in the exhibition schedule, so I hope that bodes well for his future with the club.

“Owen Sound Attack Defenceman Michael D’Orazio, ranked 90th by NHL C.S. for the 2008 NHL Draft, discusses the disappointment of his ranking and how it’s been a difficult year for him overall in his NHL draft year.

A heart and soul player that is fiercely competitive and one who sets the tone for his team-mates with his work ethic. With the rebuilding situation in Owen Sound has been asked to be a leader on his team, even though he is only in his second year himself. Head Coach Mark Reeds is a good teaching coach, but being mentored by an older player and his experiences would have been a plus in the development of this player.

Mike plays well in all three zones, is a great skater and has good mobility for his 61, 203 lb frame. He finishes his checks and can get physical when necessary. A hard-nosed player who is no doubt a coachs dream. Has some attractive qualities to NHL teams and is very coach-able.”

    Thanks Quisp.
Any real chance these 2 players have a shot at the NHL.

  • cristobal

quisp – sounds like a BIG pylon to me.

  • Duckhunter

Holly smokes, look at the potential talent on the blueline. When was the last time you saw that? I just giggled like a little girl, hope nobody heard that.

  • cristobal

duckhunter – i honestly cannot tell wether your last comment is sarcastic, or not.

  • 28 KINGS

Scott Parse is MIA from that list.

  • Quisp

    28 Kings, re Parse:

I noticed that, too; but apparently it’s just the kids, not the elderly veteran prospects. Parse is absent, as well as Lewis, Cliche, Westgarth, Clune, Murray, Guiliano, Gauthier (Gabe), Meckler, Bagnall, Zeiler, and (strangely, as he’s a fresh pick) Czarnik. All but the last are camp veterans, I’m pretty sure. Roe is absent also.

  • Quisp

    Anthony re any chance:

Oh, you know, probably not. But I like that DL is continuing to pursue his stated vision, which is to pursue hard-working leaders (D’Orazio) and big mean SOBs (Legault) even after the draft. And of course it gives the kids who DID get drafted a little kick in the butt; everyone knows they’d better WANT IT and not take anything for granted. I am reminded of Dan Bylsma’s quote from years ago, [paraphrased] “If all the players with natural talent worked as hard as I do, and wanted it as much as I do, I wouldn’t have a job in the NHL.”

cristobal, was not meant to be sarcastic. I really like what I see on paper. Paper is not reality, but I am excited with the possibilities. Could you imagine this Defensive group at Manchester for a year or two, before making the jump. Not going to happen of course, because of age and the need of players on the big team. It’s scary to think what this group could do with a little time together and the proper development.

  • anthony

    I hope you’re joking.
    The jersey that is.
That’s got to be the most ugliest thing I’ve ever seen.

  • Mike

That is like a Workd Juniors calibre defense. I’ll be wishing the other teams lots of luck. They are gonna come out of our zone black and fricken blue!

  • cristobal

Anthony, I don’t think its a joke. I won’t degrade it until i see it on the players when i’m watching FSW. Sometimes it doesn’t look as horrible on, as it does just hanging there. Overall, their uni’s have sucked hard for the past 13 years. I really don’t expect to be wowed. The worst is the awful crest with the lion and the palm trees or whatever crap that all was. Overall, the NHL doesn’t have too much good going on in design. I like the classics, and even the purple and gold years (some, not all). If it were my club (i should say ‘franchise’ with the NHL) I’d really go different. You can’t please everyone, though, so you just ignore it if you don’t like it. But it can be prettty embarrassing to have that stupid crest, like hockey and sun and fun are all great and part of the winning LA tradition. I say, “act like you’ve been there before” and don’t stand out if you haven’t proven a thing.
