Rookie ``tournament''

| | Comments (16) |

The rookie tournament, on hiatus last year because of the London trip, has returned, but not in El Segundo and not with four teams. The scaled-down version will include two games between the Kings and the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Ariz. The games will take place Tuesday, Sept. 16 (6 p.m.) and Wednesday, Sept. 17 (2 p.m.) and are free to the public for anyone who wants to make the drive out there... Rosters will be announced at a later date.

Thanks AEG, I'm sure arizonans will like getting a look at all the prospects we've been hoping to see in LA. Market on...

Cristobal,

I'm pretty sure the tournament host rotates amongst the four participating teams, although it sounds as if only the Kings and Coyotes are in it this season. Please correct me if I'm wrong, Rich, but I vaugely remember the last two of three hosts of this event being San Jose and Anaheim. I don't believe we can blame this one on AEG's marketing, and don't be surprised if the Kings host the rookie tournament next season.

i think Cristobal you're the first person to reply to yourself. i gotta admit, that being critical is cool to a point, but at some point it gets a bit annoying...

So it should always be in L.A. because it's always been know as the Los Angeles Rookie Tournament eh cristbal?

Rich, I hope you're going to be reporting on the games. it'll be interesting to see how the rookies look, not just for us, but for the Coyotes, too.

For those of you thinking of going you are going to very disappointed in the Jobing area after Staples. I travel to AZ once a month a have been to few games there, (of course the Kings never in town when i go :(

Anyway it is very underwhelming, even worse then the Honda center. Something strange about it being 105 degrees when you leave too.

Hopefully next year this will be in LA, at least we get the Ducks here in September! Cant wait!

Pat - couldn't the kings just piss off out of the tournament and play a free tournament here with the Ducks? Funny, the FREE tournament hasn't been in LA? I haven't seen it before, but i'm sure as hell not going to Phoenix unless everyone wants to support the Cristobal Support Fund. Send all donations to Rich, he'll pass them on.
Plus, you can ALWAYS blame AEG marketing, even Anschutz and Leiweke do.

John - I don't know what it should be called, but would you mind if it were always in LA? Come to think of it, do you think the players would mind?

Shakes - Sorry Shakes, I just like to bash them because I don't like them. It's kinda a mission.

Hope nothing was offensive or taken the wrong way.

cheers

One more thing. If AEG are so benevolent why don't they kick our host down with some advertising dollars?

Kevko - what buildings have you been to and what are your favorites. I've only been to MSG and Kings (Forum/Shtaples). Much preferred the Forum myself. You?

Rich,

Any information on why the SHarks and Ducks aren't participating this year?

Cool! I just moved to Phoenix 2 weeks ago and already get a bonus!!!!! I have been a Kings fan since, well, forever and will only be attending Coyotes games when LA is in town. We went to a D-Backs game the other day (free tickets) and my kids turned on me within 30 seconds of entering the building. I was wearing my Dodgers gear and they put on the free D-Backs T-Shirt. I told them, fine root for the D-Backs, but if you ever root for the Coyotes, you are out on the street!!!!!

Rich: I'm actually surprised that this has not already been asked but is there any word on either of these games being webcast by the kings like the prospects game?
