Murray, on O'Sullivan

| | Comments (13) |

Here's what Terry Murray said about the absence of Patrick O'Sullivan, who is still away from camp as the Kings try to work out a contract...

-----

Question: O'Sullivan is supposed to be a big part of your team. The fact that he's not here, does that impact the way you prepare at all?

MURRAY: You know, quite honestly I don't know what I'm missing, because I don't know him yet. I've watched a little bit of video from last year's games, so I have a little sense of what he is and what he offers, but it's the business today, and it gives other players a great opportunity, guys who have played in Manchester, to come in and show us what they can do. They're going to get opportunities in a game that they probably might not have (otherwise), so take advantage of it.

Maybe Murray needs to be a bit more educated about POS.
Any body who watches the videos would undoubtedly state that this kid is very talented.
He has a very nasty and accurate slapshot.
He also has very soft hands on breakaways and shootouts.
He plays on the PP anf PK and was voted best defensive player on the team.

If Murray hasn't figured that out by watching the videos, then he's out of touch with the game.
Good job Dumbo. We're in for another long season with him in charge.

If DL knew what he was doing, he would have signed POS a long time ago. Like Burke and Mcphee signed Corey Perry and Mike Green.
Instead, he's too arrogant and uncompromising. It's either his way or NO WAY. That's why this fiasco is still going on.

You hear that Patty O? Your being replaced! Better sign up soon! Tell that dumb-arse agent of yours that you want to meet with Dean personally and get back to the team before its too late.

To clarify, my comment, "took the words right out of my mouth," was a response to what Terry Murray said, not what Anthony said.

Anthony: Murray isn't saying anything other than, he (Murray) has to play the hand he's dealt, and this is an opportunity for the players in camp. He's not saying, "I watched the video and I don't see what the big deal is." Like he's going to go on the record and piss off either his boss or one of his potential star players, or both, before he's even coached a single game!

Rick,
Do you think its possible the Kings might trade O'Sullivan and someone for Marian Gaborik? It does happen once in a while when two teams can't sign their players, that a trade is made and then so are the contracts. Gaborik would be awesome on the same line with Kopitar and Brown.

Folks you are putting to much time on POS thing. He should be in camp now. But he is betting on the big payday.I have this take on the whole thing. If he still wants to play the game for another 10 days to 2 weeks look for DL to trade him for a equal D-man. Which is what we also need. Just make the trade to the east coast.

take the time to think about what you write before you write it. do you think it would be smart for murray to get on his knees and publicy pray to rich that he needs sully in camp? why? have you spent any time at the camp yet? if not you should. i think you would be pleasantly surprised at how many guys we have that can step into sully's spot. they (right now) may not be as polished as sully, but many of thim have huge upsides. if he continues to act foolishly, he will be out and some other young stud will move in.

Not to support Murray in any way, but it sounds to me it is just a neutral answer..Do you really think he knows nothing about POS?? That is like saying they trade for another player and know nothing about them..Come on, Murray gave a very lame answer but I bet he knows everything about POS right down to Sullys favorite stuffed animal that he sleeps with..

I'd rather keep O'Sully with us, but if we have to trade him, pull the trigger soon, and get BOUWMEESTER.

O'Sully/Lewis/Piskula for JB.

If Burke knew what he was doing, he would have signed Dustin Penner a long time ago.

And don't forget the fate of Andy McDonald

I would LOVE to have Anthony as a boss. Whenever I wanted a raise, I could just go in and demand whatever I wanted, and he'd give it to me. Because that's what bosses and GMs do. They supposed to just give their employees whatever they ask for, with no regard for performance or market considerations. Talk about a sweet gig.

I don't see anyone in these comments "turning on Sully." What people appear to be saying is, it's a bad idea to miss camp.
