Sean O’Donnell really must have been shocked that he was traded from the Ducks to the Kings on Tuesday. In response to one question, he said he was shocked, then said that nothing shocked in the NHL.
“It was a bit of a shock,” he said. “I figured something had to happen with all you’re hearing about the cap. Anaheim has some good, young defensemen coming in. Something had to give. I was a little bit surprised. I’ve been around long enough that nothing shocks me.”

well, he gets to play his 1st game for the Kings at the Pond…err Honda Center of all places… so how’s that for familiar (except maybe the location of the locker room which might seem like old times)

I REALLY want to go to the game vs. Ducks tonight, and living 10 minutes from Anaheim you’d think this would be no problem. but with the Angels playoff game vs. Red Sox starting at the exact same time (7pm), I think this will be nearly impossible. the last time I went to Angel Stadium during the playoffs was 2005, and it took me almost 40 minutes to drive 3 miles to get into the parking lot via Katella entrance.

unless I want to ride my bike and buy a cheap ticket from a scalper I think there’s not much chance I’ll be able to see the Kings tonight.

I can see it now, O’Donnell being dragged kicking and screaming from the Ducks dressing room over to the visitors…

“Please don’t let them take me! What did I do wrong? Noooo!!!!”

Poor guy. Welcome (back) to our world. At the very least, he can now say that he plays for a team that has true hockey fans and not fans of some Disney-inspired sports team (that unfortunately has committed ownership).

Well, at least he doesn’t have to play for a (current) owner that’ll be heading to “Club Fed” for an extended stay… Yeah, I’m grasping at straws here. Still, it seems like a good pick up. Only one more to go…

Brianguy – there is also something else happening in that vicinity, a concert if I recall. Coworkers are leaving at 4:00 to make the Angels game. Hopefully the holiday will help you get home before the start.

Fortunately for him, Murray said he probably won’t be playing until this weekend. Something about needing some time to learn the new system. Maybe it was a favor to Burke so O’Donnel wouldn’t run some ex-teammates.
