`Disappointed' Purcell moves on
In an article in today's Union-Leader, Teddy Purcell talks about being one of the Kings' last cuts in training camp and what he thinks he needs to do in order to make it back to Los Angeles. A quote from the story...
``Obviously I was disappointed at first," Purcell said. "I was kind of in a similar position last year (during the season). I was called up and feeling pretty comfortable, then got sent down again. So it's not my first time being sent down. Obviously it's upsetting but you have to have a positive attitude.''
Purcell a scorer waiting to happen
Also, here's a story from the Calgary Herald about goalie Martin Jones, one of the surprises of Kings training camp. Jones came in on a tryout, as one of eight goalies in camp, and earned a contract at the end. He's back with his junior team in Calgary and just earned the No. 1 goalie job. It's been a good few weeks for the 18-year-old Jones...

Rich, after "Surprise, Surprise," and now "Purcell Moves On," that's two near heart attacks in as many days. Interesting paragraph at the bottom of the Purcell story:
INJURY REPORT: C Justin Azevedo (wrist) is skating with no contact. Still wearing a cast he is a couple weeks away ... C Scott Parse (thigh) is practicing but not taking contact. He said he is "hopeful" that he'll be back in action this weekend ... LW Rich Clune (ribs) is expecting to start play with the Monarchs on Nov. 14. Not taking contact Clune is skating, but is under doctor's orders for a six week recovery time ... C Marc-Andre Cliche (shoulder) will not be ready for play likely until late January or early February.
I'm hoping Purcell proves me wrong because I'm a kings fan, but I don't see NHL scoring potential from him. He's a top 6 player or bust. His game just doesn't translate as well as other players(Moulson). There's a reason why he was never drafted and never signed earlier.
I truly hope Purcell goes the route of O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan is one player that Purcell should look at as a player that was sent down to work on the little things in there game. Since that send down to the minors, O'Sullivan has been 1 of the top 3 forwards on the Kings. Take note Teddy, take note.
....i'm just waiting for the live chat to start for tonight's game
2 goals for teddy tonight
Good to see that Purcell got two goals tonight. I agree with Petey, and I would love to see him learn to play more of a complete game.
Listening to an interview with, and reading about, Purcell, and all of the different places he has played and the growth of his game, leads me to believe that he is a player that can change his game, and make his way back into the Kings lineup.
If Moller weren't so impressive, and if Murray were a little less focused on defense and having balanced lines, Purcell might be in the line-up now.
