Doughty update
As previously posted, Drew Doughty was back on the ice today and didn't seem to have any ill effects from the flu symptoms that kept him off the ice. Doughty said he had experienced significant weakness during Tuesday's game, but it has subsided and he feels better all around. Coach Terry Murray said after practice, ``Doughty is OK, yes. He's feeling good, back into practice and he will be back in the lineup tomorrow.''

Rich, any words from TMurray about Harrolds performance teusday?
Then we can officially wipe the sweat off my brow?
This is the Kings, I'll believe it when I see it :)
Glad to hear he's ok...
That first NHL goal's a'coming!
I must say, I'm really impressed with Doughty on the ice. Mistakes are a given under his predicament, but the way he plays is a sight to see. Without a doubt he's a NATURAL athlete (hockey player). Some have said before, he's better than JJ. From what I've seen so far(albeit only three games) I too believe by the end of this year, Doughty will surpass JJ. That's how much natural skill I see in Doughty. As O'Donnell said, he needs to learn the small things of being an NHL'r, and when he does, look out. This kid has the potential to be special. It's hard to comprehend, he's only 18.
Doughty v. Johnson
We don't have to choose. We have them both. And they ought to make each other better. I mean, really, just indulge for a moment in the fantasy of Doughty and Johnson after a full year of top pairing minutes (half a season for JJ, but still). Picture that. Then add Hickey. Season HIM for a year. Now it's October, 2010. Teubert is now 6'4" 215 lbs. Voynov is now, well, a grown-up. O'Donnell has retired. Gauthier has moved on. Greene is the elder statesman. Quincey is at least a rock-solid third pairing guy. Harrold, Martinez, Campbell? These guys are not chopped liver either, but there ain't going to be room for them, is there?
Doughty/Greene
Johnson/Teubert
Hickey/Quincey
Voynov
You've got yourself FOUR Lubos/Neidermeyers/Leetches, two of which can crush you, and then you've got three other guys who can JUST crush you. Four (or five) of those guys are team leaders if not captains in their own right.
As George Costanza once said, "Sweet Fancy Moses!"
(p.s. did you see the Chelios story where he said Quincey was ready to exact vengeance on the Def Leopard guy who mistreated the cup? I love Quincey more every day)
Quisp, I guess I communicated that wrong. I wasn't saying anything bad about JJ, I was more giving Doughty high praises. Of course I want them both on the Kings, I wasn't choosing. Also the scenario you put forth above is a thing of beauty. Having that lineup when all are in productive stages, will be heavenly. I try not to get to excited but I'm having a hard time controlling it these days.
I have to give a shout-out to Priessing also. He's played better than I anticipated. He didn't have a good first game(first two periods) but hes done some things I didn't know he was capable of doing.
I did not see the Chelios story. Where can I find it?
Listening to you and others, I'm excited about Quincey. TM seems a little excited also. That can only be good news.
I really can't wait till the Carolina game. Anaheim played such a terrible game, it was hard to judge the Kings. I think the game on Friday will give us a better feeling on how things are progressing.
Im just excited to get this system so deep that we'll have the pieces to trade to get that high end player to get us over the hump and help us get the cup. I love what DL is doing and from what he did in San Jose he had the pieces to get gyus Campbell and Boyle without depleting the system. Go Kings!!
The Chelios/Quincey/Def Leopard thing, let me see... here's the link (http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2008/10/chelios_discusses_white_house.html) and here's the money quote:
Chelios: And you know, Quincey (Kyle Quincey) was the only one that said he would have done something to him."
Lynne: "Do you think Quincey would have really popped him?"
Chelios: "No I don't know if he would have popped him, but he could have gave him a good shove."
