Friday roster moves
In two non-surprising moves, the Kings assigned defensemen Davis Drewiske and Joe Piskula to Manchester. They also placed John Zeiler on injured reserve with a strained groin, which takes him out of the mix for the opening-night roster. That leaves the Kings with 27 players on the active roster (15 forwards, nine defensemen and three goalies).

Rich,
Is the active roster limit 23 or 24?
WTF!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
So who's IN and who's out and who's on the bubble?
Was at the game on Tuesday were LaBarbera looked solid, Doughty was neither good nor bad, Voynov was more impressive. Upfront Purcell, Simmons and Stoll seemed to stand out above others.
23 is the limit. Basically, they have to cut 1 goalie, 2 defensemen and 1 forward. Unless they are going to carry 8 Defensemen, which I dont think is likely.
Basically, Hickey will go back to the WHL and Martnez will go to the AHL. As for the forwards, its prob either Simmonds or Moller are going back to the AHL.
Hmmmm....is it gonna be Ersberg or is it gonna be Quick?
Wow down to Alec Martinez and Thomas Hickey for the 8th D spot.
Best of my knowledge active roster is 23. We got a special compensation last year to start the season because of the Europe thing.
I havn't seen enough of Quick to choose him over Ersberg. I still think Ersberg can get the job done well enough if he can get into a rythem and not have the defense toally break down infront of him.
Anyone see where the Dallas Stars optioned Lauri Tukonen's ass all the way back to Finland? Guess he won't be winning the Calder Trophy this year...
It would be strange to carry both Ivanans and Westgarth, I think. Therefore, I think Westgarth will get sent to Manchester, and Moller and Simmonds will both stay. In Moller's case, he will get his nine games at least. Hickey back to Seattle. Martinez to Manchester. And when POS signs, either one of the kids will go down or we'll waive or move Calder or Armstrong.
From what I've seen I would definitely say we got the better of the Tukonen/Clune deal.
Since Hickey has to go to juniors, they might give him his 10 games first, just to further evaluate where he is now and/or to give him a bigger incentive to make it next year.
Hmmm interesting, Tukenen was casted off to Finland by Dave Taylor's team...Cristobal, could you explain why DT would do such a thing, afterall, he's a first round pick and should be on Dallas first line with 20 minutes a night according to your assessment...or maybe we can give DL a little credit, he got rid of a player that can't crack an NHL roster.
i miss Jill (Painter)
Della Nooch - it is not the player we got rid of, it is the player we received. A clune type player is an important ingredient on a championship team and why the NorthStars would risk so much to bring in Avery. But hey, Cristobal did ride DL pretty hard on LT.
lets see here ... about Tukonen ... hmmmmm .. who was the biggest complainer about this trade? hmmmmm ... does anyone remember this post?

Anybody retarded enough to give up on a 21 year old former 1st round pick is not qualified enough to call himself a GM. ...
I also want to mention that Tukonen wasn't given much of chance with the Kings.
In the only game he played last season, he played about 9 minutes with loser 4th line players (Scott Thornton, Ivanans & Armstrong). Hell even Crosby and Malkin wouldn't be able to perform with those players.
Tukonen is a good player whose been hampered with injuries and bad luck. Talent just doesn't go away. Dallas loves these Finish players. Tukonen will have his shot to make the Kings regret this move.
If you're gonna trade Tukonen, you should get something in return. I'd be happier with a mid round draft pick. Not this Richard CLOWN. If this is the best DL can do, then DL should go back to scouting.
Yeah I'm sure most of you guessed it!
Brilliant analysis from ... umm .. ahhh... the luxury bosses "with all of his important friends".
Go Kings!
