Kudos
Thanks to Rich for running the live chat yesterday. Looks like it was quite a success. I think you guys already know this, but much of Rich's coverage of the Kings is done on his own time. You've proven an insatiable appetite for anything Kings, and Rich is doing a great job trying to meet that.

About the bloggers
Rich Hammond has covered the Kings, on a full-time or part-time basis, since the 2000-01 season. He was the beat writer for the entire John Torchetti era and has witnessed Bob Miller singing country music in a Nashville honky-tonk bar. A native of Los Angeles, Rich has worked at the Daily News since 1999 and also serves as the paper's deputy sports editor. E-mail Rich at rich.hammond@dailynews.com.
Jill Painter joined the Daily News in 2000 and during the last eight years she's covered the Dodgers, Cal State Northridge, UCLA, Kings, golf and everything in between. Even though she's from Colorado, she still freezes in the Staples Center press box but always manages to thaw her fingers in time to make deadline. E-mail Jill at jill.painter@dailynews.com.
Inside the Kings comments
Creating a Movable Type commenting account is easy: After you click on the "comments" link in a blog post (or are already in an individual blog entry), click "sign in." When you are at the Movable Type "sign-in to comment" screen, after the words "Not a member?" click "Sign up!"
You will be asked for a minimal amount of information, including an e-mail address, which we need to verify the account.
If you sign up and for some reason don't get a return e-mail confirming your new account, please e-mail Steven Rosenberg at steven.rosenberg@dailynews.com, and he will activate your account and notify you. He can also help you with any other issues regarding signing up for or leaving comments on the blog.
Tip: To ensure that you receive the confirmation e-mail when you do sign up to comment on the blog, BEFORE you sign up, put the e-mail address online@langnews.com in your mail program's address book. That way, the message from the server to confirm your account won't get lost in your spam file.
Another tip: Inside the Kings will also let you create a TypeKey account (or use an existing one) to comment. You can also use your OpenID, LiveJournal or Vox accounts to sign in for comments.

I would like to thank Rich for going the extra mile for us Kings Fans!!
And also thanks to Jill!
Todays LA Times
"It's still a game-to-game thing that we're making progress and getting better," said defenseman Tom Preissing, who scored the Kings' fifth goal and third power-play strike of the evening with a low shot from the top of the right circle.
"With the amount of talent that we have, if we continue to get better we're going to win games and surprise some teams."
"We've got guys competing for each other, sticking up for each other, blocking shots -- that's going to make a difference for our team," O'Sullivan said.
"I think we're going to surprise some people, to be honest."
Rich is the best, and we thank him for his hard work.
This site is a must read many times a day for Kings fans and it has come a long way in a short time. Thanks for all of your hard work, Rich. Truly a fine job done by a class act.
Thanks... Jill does an outstanding job as well, in all of the areas that she covers (golf, basketball, baseball, football, hockey...did I miss any?). She deserves a raise, if we weren't slowly going bankrupt.
Gretzky got great coverage in the local media when he was here, but the Kings as a team have never gotten a fair shake. And it was getting worse with the "major" paper in town peeling back their already mediocre coverage of both teams and the league in general. Thanks to Rich and Jill and anyone else at the Daily News for finally giving LA's most passionate fan base the respect and coverage they deserve. Coverage was so bad for a few years there I actually had to champion Silvertip Stu Nahan!
Rich, I give you the highest marks in all areas. Five gold stars or hockey pucks, which ever one you prefer. Only bad thing about this blog, is that it's very addicting. My school work would be much stronger, if I didn't constantly visit your site. Keep up the great work and thank you very much.
Us fans can't say enough about Rich. Let it be known how much we really apprecieate the dedication. Thanks to you Rich I come to your blog for everything and don't rely on TSN anymore.
thanks Rich!
Jill - are you telling us Rich doesn't get paid for reporting on the Kings?
I wasn't able to watch the game live last night (DVR) but hope the live blog is available again. The first two games I was disappointed at the lack of interaction going on during the game. I like being able to watch the game at home without any distractions, but also getting to vent and cheer, in a sense, with other Kings/hockey fans.
cheers
Jill,
Talk to Rich and tell him to take our money! I and several others have repeatedly told him we'd be happy to pay for this excellent blog.
Seriously Rich, if you are doing this mostly on your own time then get your own domain (dns) and we will all follow you there.
