Murray on the carpet, Palin debacle in St. Louis
I'm referring to St. Louis goalie Manny Legace's hip injury after he slipped on the carpet that was llaid down for Sarah Palin, who dropped the first puck on Friday. Here are Terry Murray's thoughts on that situation.
``That was pretty nice of her to do that, the hockey mom ... I didn't know that was the reason why after the first period that the goalie was changed. I read it the next morning. All I can say, when you've been in the game for a bunch of years and you step on the ice and there's a carpet there, you better be careful. You have to take some of that responsibility yourself. It's unfortunate, hell. You don't want to see anybody have an accident like that. When you look around the league and all the games we play, there's a lot of ceremonies, carpets rolled out on the ice. Even with cameras going out there sometimes with cords, you've got to be careful where you're going. You have to be heads up all the time. You've got to keep your head up in the game when you're playing, you've got to keep your head up before the game even starts sometimes, I guess.

Almost every game the carpet is laid out at NHL games for ceremonial puck drops. Why is Palin getting grief for something that happens all the time.
"Palin debacle?" Do I sense some "Left-wing media bias?"
Palin's getting grief for it? I didn't know that...
I do know that Checketts is a major contributor to the McCain campaign, as is Snider in Philly. That's the reason she was there to begin with. Hopefully in a week or so, she'll be an amusing footnote in political history.
how about coaching the team rather than being interviewed for stupid crap like this, murray?
I think having a hockey proponent in the Whitehouse would be just great.

Honestly, I was just trying to avoid a bad play on words by using her name first, followed by the next word. Also folks, some of the blog items i write are meant to be fun. Not everything should be taken so seriously.

I think the appropriate way to refer to Governor Palin is to refer to her as Governor Palin, not Sarah Palin.
It's a tough crowd, Jill. I find that it can reassuring to them and put the crowd at ease by saying, "Try the veal, folks. The 7:30 show tonight will be completely different from the 1:59pm routine..."
Jill? Have you not met the Kings fans on this blog? they often know very little about the game and take themselves WAY too seriously. Not ALL of them (before those who have daddy issues jump down my throat!) just some of them - which seems to have a high correlation with those who post most frequently (ahem ...anthony).
At least you write well and have a sense of objectivity unlike that other bozo who helped Rich out a while back.

Jill - Any chance you can get word on why Gauthier was benched in Nashville? Or was he injured?
Is Preissing scratched again tonight? Any update on what the coaches are thinking about Moller, Simmonds, Boyle, Harrold, Moulson, and the other kids?

Gauthier "benched" --- cristobal? What are you talking about? with about 3 minutes to go in the second period he was the victim of the double minor high sticking penalty that Legwand took (17:37 of the 2nd to be exact) --- and he was helped off the ice, but returned in the third (his first shift of the 3rd was at 3:14... so he really missed no time. He wasn't gonna skate on the PP during the 4 minute advantage anyway.)
Marc Nathan - Thanks for that. I had no clue what happened. He, last I checked, had only 12:18 of ice time in Nashville and wasn't being shifted in the 3rd from what I could tell.
