On the other hand...
Drew Doughty, the No. 2 pick in the June entry draft, is thriving for the Kings, but other top picks haven't been so fortunate. No. 1 pick Steven Stamkos has one assist in eight games with Tampa Bay. No. 4 pick Alex Pietrangelo has been hurt and has appeared in only three games for St. Louis. Then today, Atlanta placed No. 3 pick Zach Bogosian on injured reserve with a broken left leg. Don't walk under any ladders, Drew.

Luke Schenn is playing very well
Schenn has been very good for Toronto. Sbisa in Philly has surprised everyone. Goligoski in Pittsburgh & Boedker in Phoenix have both played well.
And as for Stamkos, I just don't think Melrose knows how to coach in the NHL anymore. Stamkos is hardly on the ice. May as well send him back to juniors. He's currently getting less then 12 minutes per game on the ice, 44th in the NHL among rookies. Doughty on the other hand leads all NHL rookies in ice time, almost double what Stamkos is seeing.
Ok, I'll be the first to thank Brian Willsie for scoring the winning goal the second to last game of the season last year so we "lost" the Stamkos sweepstake!
Thanks, Brian Willsie (wherEVER you are!) for allowing DL to steal Drew Doughty!
Stamkos with a goal and an assist in the first period tonight. I don't think you have to worry about him. He's gonna be just fine... Eventually they'll fire Melrose and clear out all of the FA crap they brought in, and start developing a team culture...
I was just going to say. . .Luke Schenn is doing very well up in Toronto
Better take back what you said about Stamkos. . .He has 3 points including 2 goals in the game vs Buffalo right now
Ill say it again, had we got the number 1 pick i am certain that Deano would have traded down to number 2 anyway to get drew, and we would now have drew, a few more picks and/or sweet prospects to boot. Dean and everyone know the Kings biggest need for last few years has been on D and in net, it was a given that Dean would go after the best D Available. D has been the focus of the last few drafts for us. Although I still wonder how much better we might be with Choosing Alzner for our 4th pick in 07 instead of Hickey at 13th. The difference Alzner being a stay at home D, and Hickey being a smallish offensive Dman.
I do think Mr. Melrose knows what he is doing. He is matching Stamkos carefully and giving him more and more icetime as the season goes by. As a d man you almost automatically gets more minutes than a forward and since JJ is out that means more minutes to DD and he is proving he belongs here.
Stamkos with 2 goals and 1 assist against Buffalo.
