Zeiler back, Campbell in

| | Comments (18) |

John Zeiler, out since late in training camp with a groin strain, is back skating this morning and wearing No. 13. Also, the Kings have signed Andrew Campbell to an entry-level contract. You might remember the story from a couple days ago about the contract dispute with Campbell...

More notes and quotes coming after the skate...

If Zeiler comes back is someone else going down now?

#13! That's great! I love that.

So does this entry level deal bring Campbell to Manchester?

Do you think some time in the near future, not right away maybe around Thanksgiving or early December, we could get a run down of Manchester? Who is skating with who, average ice time, special teams ice time, expected roles. Because goals, assists, +/- and PIM have never been trouble to find for Manchester. But it's those other facts I find real key that seem so hard to find and make who gets called up and why less surprising.

No real room for Zeiler... maybe have him come off IR and play some minutes for the Monarchs?

Campbell: see... it wasn't such a big deal...

Manchester... the team has played one game so far (last weekend) and got clobbered. This weekend, the Monarchs have games tonight @ Lowell and then at home tomorrow (Lowell) and Sunday (Springfield)

Last guy to wear 13 was Robert Lang. Anybody else have anybody more recent to wear that number while with the Kings.

Talk about out of sight, out of mind...

Prediction: If Boyle doesn't show more intensity and grit he will be watching Kings games from the stands or Manchester in a week.

Do you mean other than Cammi?

I believe it was Cammy that wore 13.

MarkE I agree with you about Boyle.

BTW, in regards to Manchester - Purcell -2 and four shots in his first game...Statistically Lewis was the best with 2 assists.

Marc Nathan - Thanks for the links but I've had both of them for years now and neither have ever been able to answer questions about pairings/line combos, roles and the multiple ice time questions I have. I'd looooove to see a breakdown of ice time the way NHL dot com does.

About Boyle- Is it just me or does balance seem to be a major issue with him? Maybe I'm overstating what I saw, but it seemed like last Saturday vs SJ every time he got near the boards he turned into Steve Heinze and fell down.

It really does not matter how big and strong you are in the NHL if you are not strong on your skates. This is especially important if you want to play the physical game the Kings expect out of Boyle. Wouldn't it be ironic if Boyle ends up in Manchester with Purcell, while Moulson, Moller and Simmonds are in LA after we were told by management Boyle and Purcell were the locks and the other three were the long shots (I always thought Moulson should have been a lock). Let's be thankful those three stepped up.

Oh and I'll answer my own question, Campbell will join Manchester this weekend

I would be surprised if Purcell and Boyle didn't learn what they need to learn. Moller and Simmonds were long-shots because of, well, skinniness more than anything. I don't think there's any danger of Purcell or Boyle crapping out at this point.

I love the #13/Lang/Cammy thing.

Something's telling me that Zeiler won't be ready until Halloween... THAT in itself is the worst trick to pull on Kings fans...

Agree that Boyle has to play better, but Idon't know if he is supposed to play a checking role, I think he has great hands and if Zues or Stoll starts to drop off at all, I think they wont hesitate to try Brian on the line with Fro.
