Brown on the hit against Ribeiro
From the locker room ....
``The team played well tonight,'' Brown said. ``We were strong on the
(penalty kill), especially late. That is a good sign for us. The hit probably
was magnified by the fact that the boards were there. If they weren't
there, I don't think it would have been an issue. It was a call they felt
they had to make.''

Dustin Brown - Now that is a "Hockey Player"!! Who needs a Gordie Howe hatrick when you can level Robidas into the Kings bench. Then to follow that up, lay a devistating hit on one of the few Dallas players I despise more than Avery. Mike Riberio, how did that board taste? I watched this guy rip the Kings time and time again and I think Brownie made a clean hit. Riberio just turned at the wrong moment as Brown was finishing off his check. Player of the game, along with Ersberg of course!
Hey Mike....SHHHHHHHHHHHH....you SUCK!!!!
Captain Freakin America.

But you have to assume he’s going to be suspended at least a couple of games (Kostopolous got three for a similar hit last week) so who takes his place on Kopitar’s line? Perhaps Moller if he is over the flu, and keep Stoll, POS and Frolov together?
Mike:
The Kostopolous hit resulted in a concussion and a broken nose and will be out a while. Ribeiro got a little cut on his forehead *and* came back to score in the shootout. Two totally different situations. I can only hope the NHL can see the difference and act accordingly.

In the "Brown Hit" thread I posted the NHL rules for boarding and hitting from behind.
Brown was charged with boarding - a judgment call.
Kostopoulos was charged with hitting from behind which is not a judgment call and is closer to an intent to injure (although the suspension was because TK was a repeat offender).
Brown is right - it was a judgment call the on ice officials made. The league will review it and decide that 5 and a game misconduct is the total tally for that action.
