Brown's biggest hit ever?

| | Comments (23) |

Dustin Brown's big hit on Stephane Robidas last night -- scroll below for the video if you haven't seen it -- sparked quite a bit of discussion today. It's not often that you see a player in that situation get knocked clean off his feet and actually CLEAR the bench. Robidas didn't just hit his rear end on the boards and tumble over. He actually cleared the boards, like he was high-jumping. I asked Brown if it was his best hit ever...

BROWN: ``A few people have asked me that. It's hard to tell. It looked like a great hit, and it was a great hit, but it's hard to say. It might have been my best hit but not my most devastating. I've hit people a lot harder. Had the glass been there, maybe it would have been more impactful, but he just fell into the bench.''

Question: The stuff that happened with Morrow, after the Ribeiro hit, do you guys talk about that at all after the game?

BROWN: ``No. He's a pretty honest player. We've both been in situations like that before and we're both honest players. Obviously with a hit like that, it was a big hit and it turned into a bad situation, I guess, for Ribeiro. I think (Morrow) understood what happened. Had that been Kopi getting hit, I think the same thing (would have happened).''

is it okay to have a man crush on someone you've never met but wear his name on your back when you watch his games at midnight 3 timezones away? some would call that stalking, i call it pure love.

He's gotta change his name to UPS.

It'a a good hit, but hes had better. Look closely, Robidas actually jumps in the air by himself, helping Brown launch him over the bench. It certainly looked good though.

maybe not his hardest hit, but definetely the most spectacular!

Robidas didn't see it coming because Brown was kind of hidden behind one of the other Stars. To Robidas it probably seemed like Brown came out of nowhere.

I hope Brian Boyle is noticing what Brown does differently than him. Skate right through the player on the forecheck. Not only does it drive us nuts, but its defensively sound as well. Boyle would do well to study Brown and start playing like him. Eliminate your man from the play and you've got the upper hand. Doesn't he realize what an asset his body size is to his HOCKEY talents?

Shakes- it's might be a little weird if the ONLY thing you're wearing is that jersey with his name....

Ethman - you're sick just thinking that!!! Absolutely brilliant!!! Thanks for the laugh.

Not his best hit ever, but entertaining either way! Nothing rattles the building than a DB hit.

Robidas was hit over the boards... nice hit but not exactly the punishment Brown usually delivers. Ryan Smyth... now that's a hit. Go get 'em Brownie and feel free to start with drama queen, Dipietro.

I just read that piece in your competitor about Brown that came out gameday prior to what I would say is one of his best hits so far. I remember a while back in a post about Brown becoming the captain and his past with guys like Avery that Rich mentioned some issues between the two guys.

Rich- You should have told us the details that Avery made fun of Brown's lisp. That is f**ked up on Avery and now I'll spend every game against Dallas hoping someone put Avery into the bench like Brownie did Robidas.

Rich Hammond said:

Actually, JB, I chronicled that in a feature I wrote on Brown about a month ago...

I read that piece guess I missed the details about what exactly it was that Avery gave Brown grief about. For some reason I was under the impression that maybe it was just the typical and minor hazing the new guy stuff. Making fun of someone cuz they have a lisp is beyone the innocent joke.

seeing the different reactions of doughty and o'donnell was priceless. doughty was as giddy as a school boy and o'donnell just looked disgusted, like "robidas what are you doing on our bench?!"

don't forget to vote for our allstars! and maybe put in a write-in vote. i put one in for doughty.

I went on nhl.com to vote. Why do you have to go thru so much to vote? They need your email, password (which they kept telling me wasn't good enough), name, & then you have to unclick things to not receive junk emails. It also took forever for the pages were loaded. I don't know if it's worth it to do this again.

Rob, darn you. I watched the Cooke hit, then proceeded to watch every video of Brown on youtube. How am I suppose to get anything done, when all I want to do is watch the freight train smash people?
