Clune returns, in Manchester
The Kings on Wednesday activated forward Richard Clune from injured reserve and assigned him to Manchester. Clune, who started to earn a name for himself in training camp with some feisty play, hasn't played a game this season. He got hurt in a preseason game, an injury he described as a broken bone in his chest but has officially been listed as a broken rib.
Marc-Andre Cliche remains out with a separated shoulder.

Nice, he'll be a welcome addition in place of Zeiler.

Let's see if he can stick in the AHL this year... people who think this guy is NHL ready are really grabbing at straws.
If he avoids Ontario, it's a win.
It's possible I'm overstating (or just wishing for) Clune's readiness; I thought he looked great in camp; whether that would have translated into a roster spot had he not been injured is anybody's guess. The safest guess, of course, is that he would have ended up in Manchester. Part of my (perhaps over-) enthusiasm for Clune is due to my belief that the Kings need a player like this, a Sean Avery type agitator (without the dressing room poison and the arm waving). Having said that, it's possible that Zeiler will turn out to be the one to fill that role before Clune is ever called up; although I have never really liked Zeiler, I'm willing to give him a clean slate to see if he's able to make it work on this new non-Crawford team.
