Ghost town
I don't know if they'll show much of the fans on television tonight, because they're aren't many. This game wasn't expected to draw many fans, but this is crazy with the number of empty seats. Should be interesting to see what the announced attendance is.

If I still lived in California, I would be there.
Heh. If I still lived in SoCal I would totally be there as well. Kills me that I can only watch 2-4 Kings games a year in person.
it's obviously REALLY empty (this is probably the first time outside of the preseason I've seen the building less than half full), but it filled in a little since the drop of the puck when it was COMPLETELY empty.
kinda looked more like a minor league game i.e when the Ice Dogs were not drawing well.
great period for the Kings.......
by the way, I swear on the 2nd goal (Preissing PPG), Bob Miller said "to Blake, he scooooooores". was it just me? no tivo here to go back and rewind!!
I actually did a "to whom" thinking I heard it wrong. then saw the shot was from Preissing, thus the name not even being close, and thought wow...
I only wish I could be there....I can't wait for Nov 29th, Kings/Blackhawks over Thanksgiving weekend...
But to be honest you can't blame people for giving empty seats. At some point you want to see someone win if you're gonna spend a lot of money, especially these days.
I only go to games on the weekend. live in OC so it's just too hard with traffic these days and everything else (work, ticket prices, parking, gas)
maybe people should stop going...they seem to be playing well
That was sarcasm. I forgot people might take me seriously.
:P
brianguy, went Saturday with free tickets and free parking and still spent a hundred bucks. What's wrong with that picture. 21.50 for two beers, 24.00 with tip. Who can afford that?
I know every one of the five people at the game tonight.
@Great period for the Kings
I rewound and looked it up and he doesn't say to Blake, he was talking about it being passed to Kopitar and it happened so quickly that he just said "He shoots and scores!"
Duckh... I was at that game, and I paid!!
the Kings see me coming and they see dollar signs.... sucka!! J/K :-) I had half season plan last yr and cut back to 10 games. I already missed one
luckily I don't even bother to buy beer, food, or anything else. tickets and parking are enough to send almost anyone to the poorhouse
is it just me or no Rinkview tonight?????????
hallelujia!!!
If I could afford it I'd have season tickets or at least half a season...till I get to that point in my life...the handful of games I get to go to each season will have to do for now.
GO KINGS GO!!!
and YAY! For no Rinkside view tonight!!!!
Tom Preissing being interviewed on the bench:
"[the other team creating chances] with our ice, it's hard enough..."
WHY DON'T THE KINGS / STAPLES DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE TERRIBLE ICE AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE EL CHEAPO BROKEN GLASS GAME IN, GAME OUT. I never remember it being like this, it's the first year they've had this awful of an ice surface.
who's that guy that was supposedly head of facilities for Staples again? I forget his name, but somebody needs to get him on the phone and demand some answers
Kind of hard to sell a game when your team is last in the west, on a 5 game losing streak and in playing team that's second to last in the east on a Thursday night..
Just sayin'
The ticket prices they show on tv are dirt cheap. Maybe the cheap seats but come on. I live in Canada and I am paying $150 to see the Kings in Edmonton at the end of the month. If I lived in LA I would go to every game
11,267 was the official attendance
That's the announced attendance, not necessarily fans through the turnstiles. Many teams do this - use the announced (or paid) attendance.
I am well aware Jill, but 11K is even very low for the announced attendance. I wasn't there, but it sure looked empty on TV. What's your guess for the actual attendance - 8K?
Just pointing this out for everyone. I would guess the arena was half-full or half-empty, depending on if you're a glass is half-full or half-empty person. I hate to guestimate, but it's clear there were LOTS of empty seats.
I was at the game and it was EMPTY. I was thinking they should have told everyone in the 300's to "Come on down!" Seriously, put the curtain up like they do at Sparks games!
That's what you get when you raise ticket prices on a last place team during a recession. I used to go to 10+ games a season before...Cant afford that anymore. Even with going to the game with the subway. I went to the Detroit Game, and maybe i might go to the game vs. SJ
that's sad to hear.
I was at the Ducks game on Tuesday and my group and I just thought it was empty due to it being election night. =/
BLAHHH
Well, I was at the Madonna concert with 50,000 screaming fans, so my season seats were empty. Maybe a lot of people were there? Or maybe they got stuck in the traffic on the 110 and gave up? It took me over an hour to get from the 101 to Dodger Stadium on the 110.
The protests on the west side made a mess out of the freeways. it took me 2 and a half hours to get the 405 to the 110 via the 10.
There was a TON of traffic on the 110. I leave the same time every game and make it with about 5 minutes before the anthem.
Apparently, Madonna was at Dodger stadium and there was a big accident on the 10. It was fairly empty at the game, but a good amount showed up really late due to traffic. I got there with just 2 minutes left in the 1st.
Hiedi did an interview between periods with a Dad and his son and they were the only ones in the entire section.
I would have gone, but I'm a poor car-less college student. Gimme 10 years and a job and I'll be able to afford tickets.
