Hockey News likes Teubert

In its ``Hot List'' -- a ranking of top junior, minor-league and college players -- this week, The Hockey News listed Kings defensive prospect Colten Teubert No. 1:

``1. Colten Teubert, D - Regina Pats (WHL): Expect Teubert to make a serious run at a spot on L.A.'s blueline next year. He's already rock-solid physically, but has taken this year in junior to up his game in other categories. His 18 points in 21 games is just three off his season total from last year and his plus/minus is up 24 points to plus-16. Drafted 13th overall by Los Angeles in 2008.''

The entire list can be found here.

Since I really only follow the Kings' prospects and minor league teams, I was wondering if other teams have a lot of good talent or if the Kings are a special case. I feel like our depth has depth! It seems like we have so many amazing prospects ready to come up. Are other teams like this? Are they close? Or do we just have a lot of young talent?

So mayby next your we might have Johnson,Doughty,Hickey will have really good change to make the team and mayby Teubert? ...hmm, who else? Matt Greene for sure...Quinsey, well we`ll see about him, too soon to say...O`Donnell? I think Preissing won`t make next years team. Gauthier will not make the team for sure. Voynov long shot, 2010? It looks really really good future!

Was that Hot List only for players involved in the International tournament? It seemed to have both drafted and undrafted players. I couldn't figure out if it was just across the board rankings of who's hot in Jr.s or minors.

Yeah, I miss Cammy. He scored a lot of game winners for the Kings when there wasn't anyone else stepping up to do it. He deserves more respect than he is shown. He always worked hard, in my opinion, and it would have been interesting to see how he fit with Murray. That ship has sailed though.

We are really shaping up to have a great D in the next few years, I hope we can keep O'Donnel as a mentor the young crop.

Great move to get Teubert as we have the next Bourque in Doughty and the next Pronger in Teubert. That said Cammy does have 14 pts on the season and would currently be the Kings leading point getter.

When TEUBERT gets here we can put him on RW,
just like Peter Harrold.

Just kidding.

Actually, with a considerable dose of offense recently added to his tough defensive game, TEUBERT is closing the gap between he and Pronger.

He still is unlikely to be just as good as Pronger, but he is shaping up to look like he'll be a damn-good, all-around NHL D-Man.

I'm happy to have him in the org, for sure.

Eat the Rich-

How many goals did Cammy score after October? A friend and I began calling him Mr. October, he only scores when it doesn't matter.

Works hard? Maybe...when it effects his pocketbook.

Hey Eat the Rich - please tell the full story with those 14 points. Cammi has only 4 goals and his assists are coming from the PP. He is often double shifted on the PP, one up front and one on the blue line. I believe most Flames fans are slightly disappointed with his production. This is his contract year, so I also believe he is trying.

Here is part of the story I was refering to. It is from after todays's practice in the Calagary Herald - use Rich's link above.

So, all in all, it was an odd morning — and don't get me started about the gun-shot outside the rink. (Really.)

But these had been the lines during Wednesday's practice.

* Curtis Glencross-Dustin Boyd-Jarome Iginla * Todd Bertuzzi-Daymond Langkow-Rene Bourque * Eric Nystrom-Craig Conroy-David Moss * Andre Roy-Wayne Primeau-Brandon Prust

(The only question is where LW Michael Cammalleri, who did skate this morning, fits in — if at all.)

The pairings: * Robyn Regehr-Cory Sarich * Mark Giordano-Dion Phaneuf * Adam Pardy-Adrian Aucoin The Sharks will be without G Evgeni Nabokov (lower body). Meanwhile, Rob Blake will skate in his 78th game against Calgary. He's played 81 (!) against Edmonton.

In the off-season, he left the Los Angeles Kings as a free agent, signing for one year for $5 million.

So far, he likes his choice.

"They're hungry to win," said Blake, 38. "Their goal here isn't to rebuild or make the playoffs — their goal is to win the Stanley Cup. It's been said here for a few years . . . and the changes made here over the past few year are to that goal. It's a common goal, from management on down.

baldy I mean Cammy stunk, absolutely stunk last year. he was good for what, the first 2 weeks? yeah, that's useful. more like WORTHLESS!

I'm much happier having Moller on our team, he's more creative, plays well defensively and is unselfish, plus he seems to have a much, much better attitude.

hope he comes back from the flu tonight!

Mrbrett - Unless you play at a level near the NHL, your put downs for NHL players are disrespectful. Cammalleri has performed at every level he's played at and voluntarily played in the World Championships when LA was done with their season. He performed in the AHL, and in the NHL. People get injured, ask Handzus. Besides, the entire team had a pretty off-balance year in 2007-08.
You sound bitter, but I don't know why. Was it Cammalleri's fault the team wasn't competitive for 5 years? Did he "torture" his roomates? Did he force "Boucher" out the door?
The guy was a second round pick because of his size and he stepped up an played his game from day 1. If that's deserves the disrespect you seem to feel justified in throwing around, so be it. But don't try to make up my mind for me.

Jet - I didn't post regarding his numbers this season. He's got 14, but who knows how he's fitting in with Keenan's Calgary. I've never been a big fan of Keenan, but he gets results usually. I'm not a big fan of Calgary's movement lately, either. Andre Roy? I don't understand what they're doing. I'd like to have seen Cammy play with T. Murray's team, but like I said, that ship has sailed. I'll wait to see Teubert playing in the NHL for a while before I really judge the trade.

I've watched parts of a couple of Calgary's games, and Cammy was playing at a high skill level, making things happen in the offensive zone.

I don't hold any useless grudges against him for his time with the Kings. He was a talented guy, who wanted to win and brought his game. Too bad the team around him wasn't more talented at the time, and it's too bad he didn't have a little more size.
