Anyone think Brown will get suspended for that hit since it was a major? I think it was a clean hit, I think Ribero spun into it and caused it to be worse than it was going to be

hhaha. I LOVE OUR SWEDES!!

If I can come to the game dressed up like this...expect to see me running around just like this in the coming months.

Okay it's time to raise the bar here. One more win and we have a winning record.
Go ICEBERG

Unfortunately Ersberg will be in the highlight reel for the Ribeiro's shoutout goal probably one of the best goals of the year. Amazing goal. Ersberg couldn't have done anything better.
The goals he did let in the regular time of the game were more due to luck than his mistakes.
Ersberg is the Kings #1!!

Hard to say if Brown will get suspended. It looked like he was just following through with his check, but because it drew blood who knows.

The guys covering the Dallas side originally said that it was a clean hit then said they were not surprised by the boarding call. Kind of switching their stories around.

Nick said:

i really doubt he'll get suspended. 5 minutes for that was wrong, imo. double-minor at most since it drew blood.

ribeiro is a pansy though. can't stand that guy.

Ribero is a little puke!! Chirping at our bench after he scores in the shootout! I can just imagine what our boys were saying to him after he was helped off the ice so Brown would get a 5 minute major then all of a sudden he is healed and comes back for the shootout!! I'm sure someone from our team will get REALLY up close and personal with him when we meet on Friday!!!! GO KINGS!!!

Mark said:

Aww, did anyone see the interview with Ersberg and Heidi Androl? I love this little goofball...

GO KINGS!

Also, I don't think Brown will get suspended. His hit clearly was not malicious and only happened because Riberio turned into it. Anyways, hope he doesn't get suspended. Brown is the cleanest, hardest hitting player in the league. That check on Robidas sure was pretty...

can anybody tell me why the Stars get 3 minutes of power play at the beginning instead of 4 on 4 for 2 minute and than a 5 on 4 for 3 minutes for the Stars.

doesn't morrow get a suspension for instigating a fight in the last 5 minutes of a game?

Dude i love the Eazy E.

It's almost like he's two names from NWA...Eazy E and Ice-berg/Cube

It's not hard to say if Brown will get suspended. He won't. I think that upon review, the ref's will realize that it shouldn't have been a penalty at all. There is no way he will get a suspension. Period. The guy was facing Brown, new he was coming, and spun. It was the wrong call by the refs, but an understandable mistake.

...Ersberg...#1 goltender...any doubt?

...Doughty...rookie of the year...I forsee the future!

I know it's not his style but, it would have been funny if after Frolov scored he skated by the Dallas bench waving his arms up to make the cheering louder.

I said it a few days ago and I'll say it again. I'm going to buy an Ersberg jersey and have him sign it. This guy is my favorite LA goalie.

Love that little 12yr old looking swedish meatball in the net..)

Ribero went all soccer-player after the goal, wrong sport for that BS, he'll get his clock cleaned for it...

Moondoggie said:

Go Ersberg, Go Kings! Great work in goal, particularly the stop on Modano in the shootout.

The goal by Ribero was sweet, just a nice goal and a great effort. No, Brownie didn't deserve the 5 minute major even tho Foxy said he did. Ribero turned into the check as Brownie was finishing. No way he gets suspended for a clean check.

Great win for LA who is now .500, wow, pinch me! Who would have ever thought or believed at this stage of the season? Playoffs? Not out of the picture by a reach and definitely not with the way LA is playing. They've got to keep playing "The Iceberg" who kept them in the game the entire way and throughout the shootout. A terrific victory, on to Dallas, can anyone say sweep??? Say it, say it!!!

Go Kings!

My one concern is that Ersberg looked a little tired in the third period. His positioning didn't seem quite as good as it usually is. Then again, he made some great saves in the shootout.

Jim Fox said something very interesting on the post-game show. He said that Ersberg seems to be in position before the shooters even shoot(OK, I'm paraphrasing here).

We've got three games in four nights coming up, so I'm sure both goalies will get some action soon.

I also thought Calder showed more jump than usual tonight.

Duckhunter Author Profile Page said:

"Iceberg" is like a cat in goal. He is quick as hell, both his feet and his hands. Great job kid. He has really played well when given an opportunity. I think TM has seen enough now to make "Iceberg" our top netminder.

Moller not on the ice sure changed the dynamics of our lines, didn't it? Man, I didn't think he would be this valuable, so early in the year. Hurry back, young man.

Defense and PK continue to play beyond anything I expected. Great job boys.

Kings really played physical tonight. Good to see. Can't ask for more than that, can you?

I don't see why we can't win three more. Dallas, Nashville and Anaheim. We can beat all these teams. "Iceberg" 6-1? Why not?

Morrow did get an instigator penalty but it was washedout by Brown's boarding call...

The two penalties cancelled each other out and that's why it just turned into a 3-minute PP for the Stars.

JDM Author Profile Page said:

hmmm... 6-1, I like the way you think Duckhunter! Iceberg can do it too.

Let's not forget to mention that Stoll and Greene played awesome games. Stoll did everything and Greene was blocking key shots like a maniac. He deserves a lot of the credit for the low shots against I think.

So glad I was able to see this game live, what a pleasure to witness.

I LOVE spanking Dallas.

I can't see Brownie getting suspended for that hit. It was a borderline penalty at best.
Ersberg was terrific in the shootout. Unbelievable move by Ribiero. That might be the shootout highlite of the year, but WTF with the finger to the mouth? I like how Army was going at it with him on the bench.

Kudos to Matt Greene for the way he played last night. He was the best D'man on the ice..and that's saying a lot because they all played great.
Kopitar played his best game defensively.

Brent Author Profile Page said:

The Kings had 3 minutes of penalty time left after it was all sorted out: Brown got 5 for Boarding, 5 for Fighting, and 10 for a Misconduct. Morrow got 2 for Instigating, 5 for Fighting, and 10 for a Misconduct. The difference between those cumulative times is 3 minutes. Hence... 3 minutes of Major PP time for the Stars (and get nothing out of it :) )

I looked at the NHL Game Center for Simmonds Shootout goal and couldn't find it. Hope someone puts that on YouTube.

Bring Back the Shield Jersey Author Profile Page said:

Great win, I was clapping in front of the TV afterwards.

But let's find the negative: Kopitar. I know, I know. And with Foxy pointing out all those little things he did right. But look at that first goal; he gives away the puck and gets beat to the net by Lehtonin, whose got a bad groin, who scores from the slot. Kopi may be a bit slow and gangly, but that was a lack of effort, pure and simple. And does TM use it as a teachable moment? Nope, puts him right back out there.

It's an example of why Kopi is not a + player, lack of consistent effort in the defensive zone. Cost us vs. Calgary, too.

LB said:

Ersberg is our new starting goalie, period. He should keep playing until there's some really good reason to switch to LaBarbera.

Ribeiro's goal was really sick! Best goal of the year so far without a doubt. I tend to agree with Jim Fox that when you score a goal like that, you can celebrate however you want.

jet said:

Bring back - I am sure Kopi went back to the bench and said, "Coach, I will never put a blind pass to the top of the crease in our own zone ever again". Kopi knew he hung EE out to dry. If you noticed after that play, Kopi's line was flying, and by far had the most quality chances of any line on either side. That's leadership, apologize, and work your butt off to make amends. We can not ask for anything more.

I was at the game & after Ribero's shootout goal I looked at the kings bench & I saw Boyle & Ivanans standing & yelling the F-Word at him. I didn't know what Ribero had done to deseve that until I read this blog. What exactly did he do? My son thought Boyle & Ivanans were going to jump out of the box they became so unglued. Can't wait till Thursday.

Ribeiro put his finger to his mouth in a quieting gesture. Hope that helps a little. It was a bush move. Act like you've been there and done that before...This isn't the NFL and he isn't a WR.
I think that pissed off the Kings bench. Its just my opinion...maybe I read the whole thing wrong.

I disagree with Bring back the shield regarding Kopitar. All players in the league make mistakes that lead to goals. It's what you do after that mistake. You can brood and play tentative..or you can go out and bust your ass..Kopitar busted his ass and made some great plays defensively..especially on the PK that saved some great scoring chances.
I've been pleased with the leadership group..Brown/Greene/Kopitar.

Charles Bukowski said:

Ribiero's gesture after his shootout goal was great for business. He actually looked hesitant to do it though. Like Avery said, we need Heroes and Villians out there and if he wants to risk angering a bruiser with that gesture, so be it. There's nothing bush league about it. It's sports. How is it any different than the pumper-nichol?

nykingfan Author Profile Page said:

Great for business...Who's business?
To each his own, but I find the BS that WR's do in football completely classless and everything that goes against "team".
Pumper-Nichol was something he did throughout his whole career. It wasn't used to incite the crowd.
I don't know, but the fact that Avery likes it, makes me think I'm on to something here.
Like I said...to each his own.

I was really impressed with Ersberg in the shootout last night. Towards the end of the game I was kind of rooting for a shootout because I wanted to see how Ersberg would do in comparison to Labs against Detroit. This was really the only area that we did not know how Ersberg would react.

Both Detroit and Dallas have excellent skill guys for shooters. Detroit made Labs look silly. On all three shot he made the first move and the 2 goals he was flopping out of control and looked uncomfortable right from the whistle.

Ersberg looked cool and collected, did not commit to the shooters and played the angles well. If not for one hell of a move (which that move was spectacular no matter how you slice it) he would have shut out Dallas.

Its been said before and I will say it again, ladies and gentlemen we finally have a legit #1. Waive Labarbara and bring up either Quick or Bernier and lets go full steam ahead with our youth movement!
