I'll be on assignment today, so please feel free to use this post to comment on the game. Did you change your mind about the jerseys once you saw players wearing them for the first time?

Hopefully they play better than they look. The 3rds look like a cheap practice jersey or like something that should be used in some adult beer league. Why not the purple ones from 67-68?

Was there a sale on the outfits from "Tron?"

Great jersey. HORRIBLE logo. They should have put the 67 crown on this third jersey and it would have been great. They coughed up on this.

John said:

In YOUR opinion Bryan! I LOVE 'EM!!!

I think the FIDM student did a good job with the overall layout and design. It looks great...EXCEPT FOR THAT LOGO.

That's the only thing that is such a problem due to this being LA and we could do something so much more personal for this city/this team.

It looks much better on them than expected. That's for sure.

The Man from UNCLE said:

Yes! Initially I wasn't too hot on the new sweaters, but they look way better in action out on the ice IMHO.

I actually like these jerseys better than their regular ones. I always have thought the simpler jersys have been the best ones and also prefer the colors

They're the WORST Kings jerseys I've EVER seen... That logo looks like it was cut and pasted by a three year old...and I apologize to any three year olds I may have offended by that last statement...

beavis said:

oh they're fine, sure woulda been nice to seem 'em in HD though.

haha, O'Neal "Hopefully, I don't have to put this on...but, I'll do what i have to." at the 2nd intermission.

I'm going to get a start next game if Ersberg gives up another bad one!

3rd jerseys: they look kinda like something you would see in a hockey movie or a commercial where they're trying to give the impression of a pro team, but something's clearly off. But I'll try to be constructive: I like the thin ribbon of white at the bottom of the jersey. That looks nice. The logo is obviously horrible. The arm bands at the elbow are weird against the lines on the sleeve. But I like the brightness of the numbers and letters. Also, the strapless version shown between periods was hot.

Zeiler hit: the way the rules are now, that's the right call by the ref, but I don't think that was a cheap shot or intent to injure or anything. Foote knew where he was, saw him coming, turned away from the check, got crunched. It's a very Adam Foote kind of check, actually. I don't think Zeiler can shy away from playing like that.

the third logo looks like the Padres logo in my opinion. I don't get the home plate design, perhaps it has to do with Murray's comments about coming back to home plate? (remember the 5 dots on the ice in El Segundo during training camp?) just kidding of course....

Please back off on those strobes at the games before someone else has a seizure.....

kopi finally played like kopi. sully is seattling in on that first line , they looked good.

the Avs played a very good game against the Kings. The Kings didn't control the puck as often as they have been recently, and hence, exposed them at times. Ersberg made a few good saves, but when all was said and done, it was not one of the best games we've seen out of the new look Kings.

The jerseys are not horrible to look at from the back, but that logo... pukeadelic.

The man child Drew Doughty was very impressive once again, I cant wait to see what this kid can do after spending a few years in this league.

3rd jerseys aren't entirely hideous, but do need some work. They just look too plain, like a eastern euro olympic team or something, but the helmets were a nice touch. I think the logo needs some improvement, they should have updated the chevron logo if they were going that route.

JonG Author Profile Page said:

Doughty played 29 minutes tonight, but for the first time it looked to me like he was tired. On several occasions he let the forward beat him to the puck in the corners, and he didn't seem as anxious to jump up into the rush.

We gave up a lot of good chance tonight, so I'm happy that we were able to pick up a point.

Jerseys are still HORRIBLE!

Avs play tough against us. To get one point was probably fortunate for us, they had lots of good chances, and four posts.

Too bad Doughty can't play the entire game (only 29 minutes +). He rested 20 seconds in OT, with slow-feeted Preissing & O'D out there, and they couldn't get the puck out of the zone. Is that the best line-up for 4 on 4, Harpo?

I can't figure out what Ivanans is contributing that Army or Richardson couldn't, and then some. You don't think Army would gladly play wing? At least he can pass and his hands are only made of shale while Ivanans' are of cement.

Hey Kyle Calder, they started enforcing stick-to-the-hands infractions Three Years Ago! It's called hooking. Get a clue already.

Kopi, Zero shots on goal; at least give it a go once in a while.

Brown looked awesome!

I liked the design of the new alternate jersey. Wish they would have done more with the name and left off the crown entirely. Personally, I'm not a fan of the crown or the shield. I thought the jerseys gave the team a whole new look and was in keeping with the rebuilding. They looked sleek, lightweight and convey speed. I didn't think I was going to like the alternate jersey as much as I did.

TeamHasHoles Author Profile Page said:

The jersey's suffer from an utter lack of creativity. Seeing them on the players doesn't change that. Neither does a stupid ice fashion show with FIDM... Who comes up with these lame ideas. Thanks God Dean Lombardi seems to know what he's doing, otherwise....

EAT THE RICH Author Profile Page said:

The jerseys were fine. They should switch from the current uniform to this. I'd like to see the negative version for the white sweater.
The 3rd jersey could then be something colorful, like Gold.
The team looks much better in these than the normal Uni, which is mufugly.

I think Zeiler got ejected for two reasons...

1) He mistook Simon for the boards...and needs contact lenses to correct this little problem...
2) He hated wearing that third jersety so much that he found a way to deliberately get thrown out of the game...

Forget about the jerseys already...I'd much rather worry about the King's PP. Not only are we having problems getting it into the zone, but once we finally do, the Kings seem to only pass or skate the puck around the perimeter while precious seconds are ticking away. That 3rd redirect goal by Svatos that tied the game is something I would like to see the Kings try. Too many times, the D seem to only want to try to blast it through everyone. Once in a while I'd like to see the Kings have one of the forwards off to one side and have the D do something of a shot/hard pass to that guy if the penalty killers are clogging up the middle. To me, it's another way of getting the puck on net, causing a rebound and scramble type situation. They need to try different things because they seem too predictable right now. The Kings are also just standing around too much with the man advantage...Guys seem to be holding onto the puck too long, and there's not enough movement from the other players, which makes it very easy for the PK to defend.

Rich, I'd like to hear what your thoughts are on this, what you think is the problem with the PP, and how you think it can be solved.

Don't like the 3rds.

Best feature is the numbers are crisp and clear. Other positives are the use of LA and they are black.

The worst is the monochromatic and boring front.
Other negatives are the lack of style in the numbering, the deodorant patches in the armpit, and the weird sleeve stripes.

Kingsfan4k3 - I agree with you on the PP. I've said before I think its a lack of offensive capabilities from our defensemen in general that contibutes to the struggles in the offenisve end. We don't have the guys that can really "activate" on the PP or late in a game when we need a goal. I think Harrold should be getting more defensive shifts in both situations and that there was some success with Harrold getting the puck on net and getting deflections and rebound goals. Handzus and Calder have done well getting screens, but there's not enough rubber going towards the net. That Svatos goal was nice and requires somebody at the back with the vision to get it started. Quincey has done well at times borrowing from Lidstrom's tactic of shooting wide of the net to get rebounds off the end boards even though it hasn't produced goals yet. I think some of the struggles might be due to the line juggling as well. The top 3 have been a bit better recently, though, so maybe they'll start getting more going.
