Props from Giguere

| | Comments (9) |

"I think they played well for a young team and they have a lot of energy,'' Jean-Sebastien Giguere said. ``[Ersberg] played pretty well for his first start of the season. It's a tough game for them to lose, but we don't really care about them. We care about us, and we try to win some games. On the road it might not be perfect, but the important thing is we got two points."

"but we don't really care about them"

exactly how is this "props" again?

he's effectively also saying we're so bad we're not on his radar

He played a pretty fantastic game, which was surprising to some extent. He's had trouble vs. the Kings in the past. Fact is, the "but we don't really care about them" sounds cavalier, but it really is true... you play for your team, and you try not to focus on anything but the win... of course, in the Kings case you can focus on Kyle Calder getting a zillion useless minutes on the power play ;)

Ersberg is the new cowbell, and I'll be damned if Terry Murray doesn't realize that I'm dying of a fever right now and the only perscription that can save me is: MORE ERSBERG BETWEEN THE PIPES!!!!

This entire game was just unbelievable. I was dead tired, and I have to get up at 5 am every day, so I should have went to bed after the 2nd period. But I just had to watch. Once again, ANOTHER game the Kings should have won. Both Anaheim and Calgary had multigame winning streaks! I swear, watching the Kings ALMOST win night after night is getting to be exhausting. It's not coaching, it's not the players. Both units have to come together to achieve the kind of success they're capable of.

As for Giguere, Sports Center actually showed highlights from the game. They even showed Calder's give away goal...that he shot right into Gigere's glove. At least the Ducks didn't play any better than the Kings, that's something to be proud of.

it's disingenuous to suggest that he said that because we're bad. he said that because we're not the ducks, at least that's what the next line indicates. he doesn't care that we had a tough loss.

Ersberg is so much better than Barbs. Hes calmer, better rebound control and more sound positionally. He definitely did not lose us the game and had some great saves and gave us a chance to win. The kick save he had low opposite corner I could never see Labarbara make and I dont remember him leaving any prime rebounds. The penalty call on Simmonds was "brutal", cmon less than 2 minutes left in the third and your gonna call a ticky tack penalty like that, that cost us the game. Kopitar needs to step up......

He is not saying the Kings suck, he is just trying to turn the focus back on the Ducks. It was liked he was asked what he thought about the Kings and he throws down and obligatory comment then quickly changes the subject back Ducks. Everyone knows that the Kings are a "young team of the future" and everyone in hockey regurgitates the cliche. It is up to the Kings to decide when the future is now, so far this season they obviously haven't done that yet, just shown us flashes here and there.

I hear the kings have a great personality, too.
