Still wanted: Linemate for Kopitar and Brown

| | Comments (21) |

Terry Murray is still in search of a player who's the right fit on the top line with Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown.
``There's value to two players being together on the line. I'm looking for something good to happen on our top line with Kopi and Brownie. We tried a lot of people through the training camp. I want to find chemistry. I want to find the right guy that's going to make it happen with them. I'm still looking. (Kyle) Calder's played pretty good and had a couple good games, but I'm still looking for something to put that line right up at the top.''

Patty O. It worked in the past. They all want it. Just do it.

His name starts with _atrick, and ends with _'Sullivan.

note: if still confused, call Crow.

all in all, I'm still confused as to why Kopi and Brown MUST play together.

Folov or Sully would fill that spot nicely... It is weird, for some reason he won't leave the better players on that line for more than a game, just keeps giving them mediocrity and saying "now overcome!". The Kings have two marquee left wingers on this club... Why aren't either of them playing on the top freakin' line... I understand that Fro has chemistry on his line and that Murray hate Sully to oblivion and is like "you need to perform better so in order to do so goto the fourth line... oh, and here is a defenseman just to make the challenge interesting." But this team desperately needs to get its first line going and throwing Calder in there, while isn't the worst thing in the world, is definitely not the answer in turning it into a goal producing machine...

They're tried everyone but Frolov, whom I think they should have done at the start of the season.

what about that one guy...patrick something? i think he played with them before. i don't know, it's been so long.

Hmm... how about that O'Sullivan fellow? He seems to have what the kids call "mad skills". Oh, wait... that's right... silly me, I forgot they already tried that for an entire game and that obviously their collective chemistry sucks together. Hooray for Kyle Calder... gross... excuse me as I think I just threw up in my mouth.

Kopitar and Brown is the top line??? You got to be kidding me!!!

What a slap in the face to POS.
This coach stated, on numerous occassions, that he knew that the line had success last season, and yet he continues to disgrace himself with this non-sense.

If this continues, POS will ask for a trade.

And finally, why is POS the only player being punished. Kopi and Brown haven't been doing well either. Why aren't they being demoted.
This coach sucks.

Look. It's clearly one strategy to put POS/Kopitar/Brown back together again. I think this is what I would do. However, all the snark in the world is not going to change the fact that Murray and apparently other important elements of the coaching staff and/or management do not like the way POS is playing right now. I believe it was Anthony [!!!] who noticed that a couple of games ago POS had a couple of game-changingly bad shifts (a penalty and something else, I can't remember). I can't say I've thought POS was bad in those games, but what Murray said re POS having a very good start in the first few games, then tapering off, doesn't sound wrong to me (and I also notice that this coincides with the Kings' slump, for what that's worth). POS will play his way out of it, as will Kopitar and Brown. But that doesn't change the fact that for the moment it's not working.

I also don't see why breaking up Kopitar and Brown isn't on the table. POS/Moller/Brown, come on!

I don't remember if they've tried this yet, but what about Handzus on the line with Kopitar and Brown? I know Kopitar and Handzus are both centers, but Kopitar and Handzus are left shots, and Brown is a righty. Put Brown on the LW, the better faceoff man at center, and the 3rd guy at RW. As hot as Handzus was a week ago, I bet he could help that line get going.

Paul from Oxnard,

I read your first sentence and immediately thought you were nuts, but the more I thought about it the more I like it. Freeing up Kopitar from the defensive responsibilty of playing center may recharge his game, although I think O'Sullivan or maybe even Moller would fit better on that line than Brown. And you know, if Terry Murray wants to play Calder on the left wing with Kopi and Brown then why isn't he implementing the left wing lock? Why didn't I ask this in the Open Forum? Why am I so frustrated this early in the season?

that line needs a sniper, not the grinder/hands of stone type who will sit in front of the net. they need a skilled player who can find the holes in defenses so kopitar can dish the puck off. and if it's not POS or Moller on the line then maybe they should be looking at the top skilled winger from manchester.

I'm telling you. If he's not gonna go with O'Sullivan, than go with Boyle.

Moller.

I agree with petey, if he isn't going to put POS on that line, why not try a 6' 7'' guy with a scoring touch.

Marian Gaborik

Put O'Sullivan on that line or you will lose him.Ever notice whomever plays with Sully plays better. In my opinion Sully is the most skilled and versatile player on this team ,all you got to do is play him.

O'Sullivan deserves it. He's played very well, and the fact that he missed training camp only makes it more impressive. He also plays with heart, always seems to give his best effort (at least all the games I've seen).
