Rich Hammond has covered the Kings, on a full-time or part-time basis, since the 2000-01 season. He was the beat writer for the entire John Torchetti era and has witnessed Bob Miller singing country music in a Nashville honky-tonk bar. A native of Los Angeles, Rich has worked at the Daily News since 1999 and also serves as the paper's deputy sports editor. E-mail Rich at rich.hammond@dailynews.com.
Jill Painter joined the Daily News in 2000 and during the last eight years she's covered the Dodgers, Cal State Northridge, UCLA, Kings, golf and everything in between. Even though she's from Colorado, she still freezes in the Staples Center press box but always manages to thaw her fingers in time to make deadline. E-mail Jill at jill.painter@dailynews.com.

I used to collect game-worn jerseys back in the 1980's and 1990's, so I didn't like the third jersey craze when it started to take hold several years ago. That said, and since I'm done with jersey collecting, they could wear whatever they want just as long as they win in it. If I had my way, I'd bring back the original purple and gold models, though. Those were so cool!
Now I see why this jersey is being given away to the season ticket holders. As an s.t.h. myself I want to let my fellow blogers know, (the ones who actually like this jersey), that I will be posting mine up on ebay soon. "Makes a great holiday gift! Bid with confidence and bid often, HA!
But seriously, with all the imagery that their name "The Kings" has the ability to evoke, where's the imagination? Where's the creativity?
whoever voted for the last option needs to resign from this blog.
It looks horrible but, I'd wear it any day of the week over a ducks jersey.
I'd rather wear a ducks jersey and a mask to cover my face.
I think it's terrible. It looks like a 1950s sci-fi invading alien space suit.
"WE ARE FROM XARTHAX. WE ARE HERE TO SERVE."
I reserve judgment until I see it on the players on the ice.
There's just no accounting for taste . . . as the vote clearly demonstrates. This jersey may go down as the absolute worst design in the entire history of the NHL.
It stinks
I thought it was a stinker at first, but I must admit, it's really growing on me. After seeing that mock-up on LGK, it really made me like it.
Pretty poor effort considering the tremendous pool of talented designers and graphic artists to pull from. but I wouldn't be caught dead in a ducks jersey.
I'm also waiting to see them in person, before I make a judgment.
I look pretty good in some clothes that looked like shit on the clearance rack, so you never know.
I'd also rather you were in a Ducks jersey Anthony! Finally we agree on something...

I don't think any of us are THAT lucky :)
I'd rather gouge my eyes out than ever wear a duck jersey! Whenever I see you at a store I don't even touch it for the fear I might get some disease.
"This jersey may go down as the absolute worst design in the entire history of the NHL."
Not even close. The Mighty Ducks jersey from 1995 take the honor...FOREVER! Thanks for the laugh.

Unfortunately, he's like that rash that won't go away.

I think we would all prefer if you did that.
Rich, I'm voting for a poll to ban anyone and everyone who votes "I would rather wear a ducks jersey" it should be lke a trick. Anyone that votes "I'd rather wear a ducks jersey" should actually be clicking a button that automatically bans their ip from the server, that would be awesome !
all kidding aside (even though wearing a ducks jersey is a horrible atrocity) it seems like people actually like them, we'll see how they look saturday.
whoever checked Id rather wear a ducks jersey,
go away and never come back,
yeah anthony im talking to you.
28 KINGS: that was me, got logged out as i posted. and i stand by it!
anyway, the mock-up got me pumped for the debut.
Seriously Anthony.... move to Anaheim... it seems as though you'd rather be a ducks fan.
And... BOOOOOOOOOOOOO to the rest of you who voted for the last option!
DuckHunter:

Haha that is hilarious. It's true though, sometimes things look better on the person.
I think the "less is more" approach to this new jersey will translate well on the ice, and be very identifiable.

Mr/Ms Anonymous,
Thanks for the links! Many of those are truly dreadful sweaters. However, I don't agree with you about the '95 Ducks. It IS bad, but there a few on those sites that are even worse. And I stand by my statement about the new King 3rd. It is the worst in NHL history (completely bland, static, and un-inspirational).
Anthony, I'm just going to assume that you ARE a ducks fan. And since that seems to be the case, just get out of here, man.
So.... L.A. Kings of Kentucky?
I kid.
Temper, temper. If you don't like what Anthony says, ignore him. I can't blame him for being pissed after the last 6 years and embarrassments like that other 3rd jersey we won't mention that had a sash.
So much anger about comments but very little about this teams futility.
I voted that I'd rather wear a Ducks jersey...but I wouldn't wear either jersey even if I lost a bet... I'd rather be in the old school Forum Blue and gold...
Isn't it funny that the comments are all most 90% negative, but yet the pole is only 28% negative? 72% liked it or thought it was OK. That proves the complainers are louder than the non complainers.
definitely keep it... it's nice and would go a long way to replace the current home jersey.
the road jersey is fantastic - leave it alone!
