Murray talks Purcell, line changes

Here’s what Terry Murray said today about the line changes, which were chronicled in an earlier post. He talks about Teddy Purcell, who is Manchester’s leading scorer this season, and the need to make more sweeping changes to the lines…

(on Purcell…)
MURRAY: “The lines you saw this morning will be the lines we use tonight. All the reports are very positive about Teddy and his play down in Manchester. I believe that when you call a player up that’s a, quote, offensive player, a player who has been one of the better players down there, he needs an opportunity to play with good players up here. That’s where he will fit in, and hopefully there will be some good things happening tonight.”

Question: Were the changes sparked by Purcell, or would you have made changes regardless?

MURRAY: “I was thinking of making some changes in the line combinations, and on the D pairs, anyway. We just need to try to find a way to generate some more offense. I’m really liking the committment to the defensive part of the game. We’re focused and we’re executing very well on that side of it, and I think we can maintain that kind of focus, but we still should be able to get more offense. This is now game 28, and just looking through the numbers, I just think we should have better numbers from our top two lines. Maybe change is good. We’ll take a look at it through the game tonight and see how it goes.”
