Happy Holidays to all

An early Merry Christmas and, in general, a happy holiday season to everyone. I hope that all of you get to spend at least part of your day with your loved ones.

It’s hard to believe that another year is winding down. Once again, your support here has been overwhelming, and I can’t thank you enough for all the support and kind words over the months and years. In an ideal situation, we’d be able to provide even more coverage, and we’ll do our best to make 2009 even better than 2008. Dean Lombardi has agreed to do a long Q&A (as early as next week), so that should be quite interesting.

And thanks to everyone for taking on a more respectful tone in the last couple days. Disagreements are fine, and often fun. A lot of the stuff that’s posted cracks me up. All I ask is that we keep a little perspective on things, when it comes to interacting with each other. That’s fair, right? Thanks again, everyone, and I’ll see ya back on Friday in advance of the game against Phoenix.

Merry Christmas Rich. Thanks so much for your hard work, dedication and insight. Here’s hoping that one gift under your tree is a travel budget from The Daily News!

  • Paul from Oxnard

Happy Holidays Rich, Jill, and all the readers. I echo the sentiments about a travel budget. 😀 Here’s to hoping the Kings give us all a holiday gift in the next few years with a big, tall, shiny cup! More then one would be even better!

  • Stillkingly

Merry Christmas Kings and all of their fans. I think I have gotten all I wanted for Christmas and now they just need to stay healthy, consistent, and let the progression take place to someday, The Cup….

  • Thanks for doing such a great job. If it wasn’t for this blog I would not be as passionate as I am about this team. What you do here is provide a way to easily connect with the players and find multiple reasons to root for them.

I was always a fan because it is my home team and I love hockey but, up until this year I never really took time out of my day to keep tabs on the team or actually care about their progress.

You have made it fun to be a Kings fan. Win or lose it is always fun because with your coverage it is apparent it is more than just a game to watch.

    Have a great holidays too!

  • Pat McGroyn

What a great post, Rich! Merry Christmas to you and all of the Inside the Kings fans & bloggers!

  • jet

Agreed. I also wish everyone happy holidays.

Cridtobal/ Eat the Rich – I tried to post that my comments in the first paragraph were not at all directed at you and that I was sorry if you or anyone took it that way. Anyway, they were never posted.

  • nick

have a merry christmas rich. thanks for the blog

Rich… Happy Holiday’s to you… You are truly a Kings legend and deserve your

    heehee.
Looking forward to the Q&A with my new BFF, DeanO.
    Cheers and Be Safe…

Or maybe having a press box named after Rich….The Hammond Organ Grinder??? Yikes, that was bad! You deserve it Rich, the press box that is.

Merry Christmas to all and to all that make this blog so much fun. The Kings have been exciting this year. Quick look at the standings has LA out of a playoff spot by just two points with PHX holding the 7th spot just 3 points ahead. Take the Yotes twice this weekend and….

Have a very joyous holiday season. My apologies to those who live in the Midwest, East, the Rockies, Cascades, just about everywhere except Hawaii that has snow. You’re all having a very white Christmas. Take care, on to Friday and 2009.

The playoffs???? Who’d have thought it would be possible this time of the year?

    Aloha to all….

  • EAT THE RICH

    I forgot about Jill.
Is she on vacation or did we drive her crazy?

Happy Holidays Jill, wherever you are.

  • Mark

Rich, your hockey knowledge and professionalism make this blog a must read for any serious King’s fan. When one is stuck being a fan of a crummy franchise, its the people who cover the team that make it somehow bearable by expressing accurately what the fans think and feel. Thanks for doing a great job.

  • john

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all my fellow Los Angeles Kings fans 😉 And thanks Rich for this wonderful blog.

  • anthony

    Merry Christmas
    &
    Happy Holidays To All.

This site and its regular members are almost like family now.
I enjoy reading all the comments even if they’re somewhat unconventional towards me. Hard to believe why anybody would take that tone against me.
    Right.
    LOL.

Rich, asking you to keep up the great work would be an understatement. You come through for us fans everyday.
    God Bless You All.

  • neil

Happy Holidays to all and remember sports is suppose to be a distraction to reality….yet we all know that is not true!! Peace to all

  • anthony

    Oh, what the Hell.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to TM & DL as well.
    And you too John Zeiler.

  • Dominic Lavoie

Thanks Rich! Many of us are worried about the newspaper industry and are thankful that you are using the Daily News reputation and resources to provide great content online. Please let those of us who do not live in Los Angeles know how we can support your efforts so that we can continue to enjoy the coverage!

You really make a fans like me very happy. And I am very much grateful for all that you give and share with us. Really, Rich. You and your team (Jill) are a Kings fan’s dream come true.
thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • Rob M.

Rich – Thanks for the great coverage and the added features such as a second person to help, interviews with coaches when the team is on the road, game day threads, going to practices, etc. You are providing better coverage of the Kings than ever before. Hopefully, you can monetize it. 🙂

  • Duckhunter

I have missed the last couple days due to travel and of course family events. I wanted to make sure I visited this sight and wish everyone happy Holidays, and low and behold Rich beat me to it again. Rich, you are the “Big Dog” around these parts, and I can’t tell you how much I/We appreciate the time and effort you put into this sight. I would also like to say best wishes to all the true passionate King fans who bleed Purple and black through these pages, all the different personalities make for a fun site. I hope everyone spends some time and gives unlimited amounts of love to you’re loved ones and friends. I’m signing off now, but I will see all you knuckleheads on Friday. Peace and goodwill.

Merry Christmas, Rich and Jill, and thanks (again, and again, and again) for all the hard work. This is definitely the best sports blog I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading/being addicted to. And of course, to all the loyal posters, have a safe holiday. It’s great talking Kings with y’all.

Oh, and Rich, thanks for showing me that something good can come from USC. Still, go Bruins, and GO KINGS!

Merry X-Mas? More like Merry Rich-Mas. That doesn’t flow very well.

Happy Holidays to all! Even anthony.

  • Thanks Rich, just remember, every post you make on this blog makes SoCal seem a little bit closer to NY for me….

    Happy Holidays!
    GKG.

Merry Christmas to all!!! Thank you Rich and Jill for your time and efforts in keeping us as up to date as we can possibly be about our beloved team. You truly enrich our overall experience and knowledge about the Kings.
    Here’s to making the playoffs!!!
    GO KINGS

  • jediknight329

hello fellow posters, commentors, skeptics and most of all, us passionate fans out here in cyber space. i just checked the norad website and santa is over hilo hawai’i.

merry christmas to all. have a safe holiday season and a great start to 2009. rich, as everyone has mentioned above, thanks for all of your hard work with this site and your reporting. it is second to none for us die-hard kings fans.

i feel good things are ahead of us. there is a lot of hockey left with 48 games still to go in the season. just being in the playoff race heading into the new year is a real treat. if we can come together and gel when on the road later on in the season, we really could take a stab at the post-season.

resolutions for the kings in 2009… (in no particular order)

    > less jlb, more quick
    > get ee back 100% healthy
    > less zeiler
    > get jmfj back 100% healthy
    > get fans back into staples to support the boys
    > play without fear of losing
    > play with the confidence to win every game, regardless of opponent
    > trust the system, coaches and each other
    > stay in playoff contention the rest of the season
    > learn how to win the tough games
    > may the force be with us!

  • andre norway

The best wishes for the holidays to everyone on this site from Norway. The place were the reindeer and polar bears are walking in the streets.

  • Brent

Rich and Jill thank you both! I honestly can’t thank either of you enough. The insight to our coaches and GM have been invaluable for all of us passionate fans. May all blog participants be blessed this holiday season and beyond.

As for the Kings, jediknight329 just wrote what I was thinking of this Christmas day. Nice top ten list, jedi! Last year at this time, we were totally out of the playoffs after a typical rotten December. I was focusing on the entry draft by New Year’s Day!

This year, while we aren’t IN the playoffs at the moment, we aren’t so far away that it isn’t even a possibility.

My gifts from the Kings this year are 1) the most competitive hockey team that I’ve seen iced in years. 2) NHL Network coverage of our Junior Eligible players in the Championships over this holidays! 3) Obvious progress in the development of our team to a better one.

May we keep that competitive spirit and our collective health, players and fans alike, in 2009! Go Kings!

  • Rob

    Merry Christmas Anthony.
I almost cringe every time I read your comments, like I’m hearing nails on a chalk board, but Merry F’n Christmas just the same.

  • Olli

    Hyv Joulua!

  • BRS

Don’t forget to treat yourselves to the Kings Christmas offer of all sesats for the January games for only $11.50 each. Lets support our team. Nobody can now say it’s too expensive to go to a game. (At least thru January). Happy Holidays to all & thanks for this great website.

  • JDM

    Merry Christmas Everyone!

Rich, every day is like a little Christmas for us fans on this blog. Both you and Jill have a wonderful style of reporting and eloquent writing. I hope both your wishes for this holiday season come true.

To all the posters/readers – You guys/gals make up one of the friendliest, most passionate groups of anything, not just sports fans, I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of. I hope everyone’s day is filled with good food, family and friends. I look forward to reveling in much joy over Kings goals, saves, hits and triumphant wins with all of you. Watching this amazing young team grow and gel has already provided us with so much fun and excitement, and I sense great things to come.

    Go Rich

    Go Jill

    Go fans

    GO KINGS GO

Thank you Rich for a place for family to meet

  • Marc Nathan

thank you Rich. It’s a pleasure to have this forum where the 200-or-so hockey fans in Los Angeles have a place to dissect the finer points of the game from a fan (read: amateur) perspective.

Here’s to aliens landing on top of Staples Center in the coming months!
