Back to Ersberg
Perhaps by default, as much as anything, the Kings will go back to Erik Ersberg in goal tonight. Ersberg allowed three first-period goals Friday against Edmonton and was pulled, and a couple days later, Terry Murray hinted that Ersberg was fatigued. He might have looked slightly better after Tuesday, when Jason LaBarbera allowed six goals on 26 shots. Here's what Murray said about going back to Ersberg...
MURRAY: ``He looks refreshed. He's had a couple good practices and he looks like he's ready to get going again.''

Here's a quick Q&A with Ersberg:
Question: A few days ago, Terry talked about being concerned with your fatigue level. Is that a concern for you?
ERSBERG: ``I have always played a lot of games, in my whole career, so there shouldn't be a problem. The first games were better than the last game for me, but I guess that's how it is. You're going to have some bad games during a season, but hopefully I can have some good ones now.''
Question: Have you looked back at that last game and noticed anything in particular that went wrong?
ERSBERG: ``I've been looking over it. We always go through the games, me and Billy Ranford, so if there's anything there, we try to correct it. We try to stay on top of it, but that's how it is sometimes.''

E really reminds me a lot of Nabokov. Same height, not quite as heavy, but a very similar style indeed.
I'm gonna translate what Ersberg just said in this interview to simple english
Question: A few days ago, Terry talked about being concerned with your fatigue level. Is that a concern for you?
Ersberg: Yah Terry is an idiot, I don't know what he's talking about, I've played plenty of games. This Terry guys needs to pull his head outta of you know what
Question: Have you looked back at that last game and noticed anything in particular that went wrong?
Ersberg: Sure, but its a waste of time since Labs gets "bad bounces" and I have "things to work on"..In bias up in here Rich!!!
"Ersberg: Sure, but its a waste of time since Labs gets "bad bounces" and I have "things to work on"..In bias up in here Rich!!!"
Neither of these guys has played particularly better than the other. I think if you are hearing bias and criticism of one and excuses for the other, it's really your bias and over sensitivity.
I mean, wasn't Murray actually making an excuse for Ersberg by saying it was fatigue instead of saying he sucked? And don't all these guys work on their game? Labs doesn't take coaching you're saying?
Here again are the stats:
Player_____GP__GAA___PCT____SO_W_L_OTL__ATOI
Ersberg____15___2.52___0.893___0___6__5__2_____52:21
LaBarbera__16___2.75___0.898___2___5__7__2_____53:11
Maybe you think one guy is cuter than the other, or has better hair, but their stats don't scream one is playing better...
First of all Esberg is the cuter of the two and Labs has the better hair...so its a tie
As for stats..hmmm Ersberg Less games played way more points! Enough said
