FINAL: Coyotes 4, Kings 2

| | Comments (20) |

The second come-from-ahead loss in as many nights for the Kings, with another three-goal third period by the opponent. Enver Lisin tied it and put Phoenix ahead, with goals about four minutes apart, and the Coyotes added an empty-netter.

Ersberg stopped 22 of 25 shots as the Kings outshot the Coyotes 34-26.

Phoenix was whistled for only one penalty, and the Kings scored on the power play, but that was it for the power-play time. Oscar Moller got that goal, and also tied team-high with four shots on goal and three hits.

Ok, Ersberg lovers... You can take your lips off of his butt now and see if you can dance your way out of this one. He totally lost this game for the Kings. Nice going, dud!

Even LaBarbara could have made those saves.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling!

This one hurts. They competed for 2 periods but for whatever reason stopped skating and couldn't win a battle in the third. I didn't see Frolov for a lot of the third, so instead we got to see Armstrong. He's about as saavy around the net as Calder right now. Not that Calders linemates can bury anything either. I'm ALMOST wishing for last year again...when at least there was no hope.

Another day, another game, another failed attempt to put a team away when we could have.

Calder..............Ugh.

Anthony is calling in a trade for Ersberg. If 2 goals is horrible, 3 must be unacceptable.

Kings need to stay out of the damned pentalty box and score on the PP.

Special teams is costing them now.

I didn't see most of the third period but they looked great in the first...so so in the second and it sounds like bad in the third.

I thought I've seen it all.
Roger Neilson
Marc Crawford
Mike Murphy
And the real losers like:
Parker McDonald
Don Perry
But this is the worst coach this franchise has ever had.
Nothing worse than a bad coach who doesn't acknowledge his mistakes, and continues to make the same mistakes over and over and over again.
Again the Kopi-Brown-Calder line amounted to zero.
He continues to play Ivanans even after he continues to take minor penalties.
He continues to play Calder and Armstrong in critical situations only to have them miss empty nets.
This Harrold - Preissing connection is scary.
He continues to play four lines even when his team is trailing. This is not New Jersey or Detroit.
On that second yotes goal, I thought I saw O'Donnell pose for a picture. These last two games, he's been playing old.
This 58 year old experienced coach scares me. He keeps making a bunch of mistakes and doesn't learn from it.
This Calder-Kopi-Brown line have played about 15 or 16 games together, and I've never seen them score a goal. Why does he continue to play them together.
He plays mind games with his best players like a 58 year old child.
He'll never transform this team to a winner. Keep dreaming.

I think its about time for TM to split up Kopi and Brown and see if someone can get going. THey are missing on tons of chances then ppl like anthony come on here and complain about calder and gauthier.

This game wasn't lost by EE. It was lost by poor D and too many penalties. The Kings had defensive breakdowns down the middle of the ice all night long, eerily reminiscent of last years team. All three goals scored by the 'Yotes were not going to be stopped, no matter who was in goal.

The concern right now has to be the defense which has played so well up until the last periods of the last two games. And the Kings are also taking a lot of unnecessary penalties that may not always lead to the other team scoring, but it changes the flow and momentum of the game, and takes time away from the Kings being on the offensive. Time to get back to the basics.

Ok, Anthony. Thanks for yet another one of your passionate and largely useless knee jerk responses.

Please, tell us what should be done differently. Spare me, "Release Calder!"

Please lay out some sensible examples that you think would better this team.

Why does Murray use Calder, Kopi, Brown line more. They don't score, and give up bad penalties
With Sully, he has only use them 3-4 times, but he show more confidence in them with the power play
and game ending situations. I just don't understand, maybe he just start benching players or come with new lines or something!!!

Hopefully the boys use these next two off-days to find their confidence again. From 7-0 when leading after two to 0-2 at the start of this week. And that's just Toronto and Phoenix.

Bottom line -- we've gotta start scoring some goals. The hard part should be doing that while not abandoning our strong defensive play from the first two months. I'd love to hear how anthony plans on doing that...

That person earlier that blamed Eric for this lost wasn`t watching the Kings game, he had no chance on those shot`s.Poor defense.

Brown and Kopitar skated good they just didn't finish any plays... Brown almost scored, but I too think they may need a change of scenery. Put Kopitar on a line with Frolov and Moller, Brown on a line with Stoll and O Sullivan, and drop Calder and Handzus together with Simmonds, sort out the rest, play 4th line only in shut down situations.. I think this solves the problem of Kopitar and Brown seeing the shut down lines, one of them will get a favorable matchup every time. Moller and Frolov will greatly benefit from Kopitar's playmaking, and Brown has turned into quite the space-creater himself, and dishing to O'Sullivan, who can actually finish (Calder had 2 golden oppurtunities he couldn't bury), would be nice to see.

probably ersberg's worst game of the season. kings played soft in front of him in the 3rd. second game in a row of this. what's up? brown and others still taking bad penalties. and our great pk is starting to crack.

uknojata Author Profile Page said:

it was a poor team performance. no one person deserves all the blame. what happened to our pk? our defense as a whole was terrible and to just blame iceberg is stupid. I'm not sure why TM insists on keeping that first line together when brown and kopi obviously are not playing to their potential. kopi doesn't look confident with the puck and his effort has looked half assed all season. let's get back our defensive game and figure out a way to get our first line back on track.

Sprints! Give me sprints... right now!

Well, 40 minute efforts suck. This is the kind of loss that usually brings about a shakeup. We'll see.

Rory said:

I'm not an ivanans fan at all but his line has been able to get good cycles going in the offensive zone and Terry Murray rewards they're work with ice time. Ivanans does take stupid penalties and even though that line does get scoring chances they couldn't buy a goal and by playing them TM sends a message saying "it doesn't matter how good you are you've got to battle and work hard"

I do feel like it's time to split kopi and brown though, we need a change of chemistry.

Anthony, exactly which NHL team have you coached for?

Calgary 6-2 (Loss)

Toronto 3-1 (Loss)
Phoenix 4-2 (Loss)

Instead of being 4-1-0 in the last 5 games they are 2-3-0. Both in the Toronto game and against Phoenix they totally stopped trying as much as you can blame Easy E for that game it has a lot to do with our PP being crappy and our PK slipping a bit. We just don't shoot the puck to well from the point it's always being blocked or shot wide there is no ability to get the puck through traffic and on goal. That good point shot is sorely lacking here. Stoll has a missle but, seems to always shoot wide. Doughty is going to get there but, he is very hesitant to shoot. I think this is where we miss Lubo a lot. Also another thing is that our team is a .500 club at best this year so I can see them getting 85 points this year which would be a 14 point improvement over last year but not enough for the playoffs. Deano has to somehow get a proven sniper (Gaborik? Kovalchuck? Hossa?) to play on that top line. Sully can be a 40 goal scorer he will get there but he isn't there yet and I have been stoked on him since he played for the Mississauga IceDogs.
