Murray, on the goaltending plan

Here’s what Terry Murray said today regarding his goaltending plan for the road trip, with Jason LaBarbera and Jonathan Quick. The Kings play tonight in Buffalo, tomorrow in Detroit and Tuesday in Columbus.

MURRAY: “LaBarbera will play tonight. To be completely honest, I don’t know Quick very well. He played one game for me in the exhibition and I made a change because he didn’t play very well. I understand that he’s doing better and playing well in Manchester and playing half the games down there. Billy Ranford had been there to watch his last two games, and so were a couple other people, so I’m going to have to talk to those guys and get a feel for whether he’s ready to play in the NHL. Right now he’s here as a backup, to replace an injured player. To be quite honest, I don’t know if he’s ready to play in the NHL and go out and do the job for us. My plan coming into the trip, after Ersberg got injured, I was planning on using whomever got called up, either Quick or Bernier, in one of these three games. But after the game, I was kind of thinking about it. The plan was to get (Quick) in one of the games, but honestly, i don’t know right now.”
