Brown: one assist in shootout loss

Dustin Brown played 14 minutes, 11 seconds, in today’s All-Star Game and assisted on Shane Doan’s third-period goal. In a back-and-forth game, the East scored with 3:39 remaining to tie the game 11-11, then won in a shootout with goals from Kovalev and Ovechkin. Brown had two shots on goal but was not credited with any hits in the game, but Keith Tkachuk got one…

and the over wins again 18.5 wasn’t enough. Glad I had my money on the east this year

Browns’ offense still in a funk LOL At least he is consistent. What a waste of time.I hope the boys stayed active over the break, and come back and thump Chi-town,and Montreal on Hockey night in Canada 11am on saturday Jan 31st.

This was one of the better All Star games I have ever seen. The last five minutes and the overtime were fantastic.

I also like the hard stance the NHL is taking regarding players who opt out of the All Star game. A one game suspension to Lidstrom and Datsyuk should send a message for further All Star games.

Brown should have hit someone or skated harded. He didn’t really show effort or moves. Getzlaf did. I’m disappointed that our only representative didn’t really make any noise.

  • Old Man

Brown looked intimadated in period one and two, but seemed to relax in the third. I think he did well enough for his first time. You could tell he really missed the hitting part of his game!

    What a boring game.

It’s an excuse for the NHL to pat itself on the back and make a big stink about it’s history.

    blah blah blah

let’s get back to games that actually mean something

  • Bruce

Brown probably felt out of his element because he couldn’t hit anybody. I hope he at least met some incentive clause in his contract for being selected as an All-Star. Back to hitting and real hockey…

If some of you don’t bitch, you have nothing else to say. It’s disgusting how you can have derogatory comments about Brown even in the All Star game. LA doesn’t deserve this kid and I’m hoping he gets traded out of that dump of a hockey town before he gets too old. Unbelieveable.

i don’t know why anyone would comment seriously on someone’s performance at any all-star game…so anybody dissing brownie for whatever reason is ridiculous…unless the kid went out there naked and said bad things about canadians, no one should even be concerned to the point of saying anything critical…

and as far as the moron…who posted anonymously above me…and his “LA doesn’t deserve this kid and I’m hoping he gets traded out of that dump of a hockey town before he gets too old. Unbelieveable.”

    no…

what’s unbelievable is yr spelling and yr contempt for l.a. fans of brownie, the kings and this site…mighty brave of you to randomly take a cheap shot at people anonymously who really haven’t said anything bad at all…

the game was entertaining…versus did a nice job w/doc, brian & chris simpson, as they offered interactivity w/players during the game & inbetween periods…

for the record, on the espn conversation blog, before the game, i posted that the east would win 12-10…i’m usually awful at predicting scores of anything, so i’m giving myself some dap for coming close…

there was one person that even sort of criticized his play. that was a pretty bizarre outburst, even taking out the fact that it was from an anon poster.

  • Cynic

Let me say something in a different way.

I was disappointed that Brown did take an opportunity, even if just for fun with Zach Parise (As mentioned in his USA Today diary), to give the crowd a rise by laying a hit on a few guys. Everyone there KNOWS that is what his game is. If he gave a few harmless love taps, I think it would have made the game much more enjoyable and the players would have understood. As long as he didn’t go ‘Bonecrusher’ on anyone, it would have been fine and welcome, I believe.

That being said, I think Brownie looked totally uncomfortable the whole time he was there. Pre-game interviews, Game shots, almost looked like he felt like he didn’t belong there. I felt sorry for him. HE FRIKKIN’ BELONGS THERE IMHO!!! He is the captain of an NHL team. Only 29 other guys in the whole damn league can say that. So his ‘game’ isn’t a feature of the ‘All-Star aura’. That’s the problem. IT SHOULD BE! Honestly, I really only watched the game because of Dustin’s words. Him not knowing if he was going to throw a hit or not, I watched every one of his shifts intently waiting for it. I would literally cringe with anticipation every time Brownie got close to the boards, hoping we’d see a hit or two. Again, I was disappointed.

Hands Down, Brownie is an All-Star. Too bad the ‘All-Stars’ are too afraid to be like Brownie just for a brief moment to liven up a boring game. The only thing the ‘All-Star Weekend’ needs is a game that means something. The rest is great fun.

Oh Well, hopefully DB has some pent up energy for the next game.

well while the West lost in OT, at least we got a point…oh wait, that’s my standard line after Kings losses…

While we’re on the subject of All Star games, the AHL All Star game is tonight, and if you have the NHL Center Ice package you can watch it. I believe Teddy Purcell is the only Monarch who will be participating.

Eliminate the All Star Game and add another reguluation game to the season.

  • Old Man

I loved the shoot out competion, but whats with the on ice cammera? Keep the cameras back so we can enjoy the talent. The nhl trys so hard to sell the game of hockey there doing more harm than good.

I got a kick out of that. Let me guess, you’re either a Ducks or a Leafs fan. Am I correct?
