Dustin Brown, all star
Dustin Brown has been named to the Western Conference All-Star team. It's the first time Brown has been selected, and he will play in the game Jan. 25 in Montreal.
Late practice start today (noon) but I'll be out there to get some news and notes...

What about Matt Greene?
Looks like Moller and Doughty are doing the team's laundry for the rest of this season. Congratulations Brown!
Congrats Brown !
I did a brief overview of the 'Grading Out' post and I think the consensus was Brown for MVP. Nice work guys!
Somebody is going to need to remind him that there is no checking in the all star game!! Way to Go Dustin!
Rich,
Please let us in on any new information.
Especially as to what TM is gonna do about our lack of scoring.
I know I'm gonna get alot _hit for this, but Brown hasn't been playing like an all star lately. In fact, his last few games, he's been pathetic.
Sort of like how Lord Cammi was playing last season. Taking impossible angle shots, not passing, and being out of position.
Before being reunited with Kopi and POS, those two were averaging almost a point a game. When Brown's head popped up, the line is now playing like crap.
Either Drew Doughty or Matt Greene should be representing L.A. Not Brown.
RE: The offense
Don't forget that DL traded away Cammalleri and Visnovsky. That's a lot of offense the Kings could be using right about now. Stoll and Greene don't make up for that....
Hey Anthony, regardin Brown and his 'impossible angle shots'...although I agree with you, don't forget about your lover-boy, POS. That guy is just as guilty except his problem is that most of his shots are blocked or deflected. Not to mention those retarded behind the net, no look, in front of the crease passes...LAME.
Congrats to Brownie...
I'd have to admit.... Anthony isn't to far off on his currant play...And yes maybe Doughty, but Greene... not to sure.. don't get me wrong he's been great for us, just not sure about a All-Star...
... oh and Sort of like Lord Cammi... OUCH!
Good for Dustin, I think he deserves this honor. I see 2 possibly great things from this.
1. Brownie gets a big boost and picks up his play.
2. Kopi gets angry he wasn't chosen and picks up his play.
Anthony....dude....c'mon.
Brownie has been our most consistant performer the entire year. I think there are a lot of Kings who would have deserved this honor; Sully, Greenie, Fro, Quincey and yes Drew Doughty has been out of this world. They've all played very well throughout the season. But you've got to give it to the guy who has done it all and Brownie has. He's laid it out there every night, scoring, hiting, defense, offense, backchecking, forechecking, you name it. He's been our most consistant performer and was the perfect choice to wear the "C".
Congratulations Dustin. You earned it. You are "da man"
i agree with Anthony, what the hell has he done this season?
Drew can still do the Young Guns game; I'm assuming the powers that be are planning one?
Congrats to Brown!
anthony,
do you want Brown dealt away too?
Cammi has more points than anyone on our team.
Not to mention, Bobby Ryan is just about tied with our top guys despite playing in just about half the number of the games.
Too bad because Burke was talking about trading him shortly before calling him back up to the big club.
But I'm sure we'd see Fro and Kopi traded first. They don't fit the style L&M seem to want. I was surprised Fro wasn't benched after taking that penalty.
Eat,
you make a good point. And I don't want to see any of our top players traded.
I just want this coach to try a new formula to make this team score some goals.
Thus far, his system has not been working.
The players just don't look comfortable out there.
Its like everyday they are being told.
DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE.
They must be sick of this guy.
Congrats there Mr. Brown.
Moondoggie, I'm on your side. Brown may be struggling like the rest of the team on offense, but you can not deny that he gives everything hes got every night. If he's not being a factor in one area, he makes it up in another. He's the only King you see, without looking every night(alright Doughty also). Mr. Brown is a All-Star.
Love Brownie, but Kyle Quincy is this team's all-star.
Come on Duckhunter. Every game? Please. Where was he last night against the ducks? 1 hit? That's the Brown we notice every night? Please. The guy is taking games off this season. I never thought that I would see a day where Brownie would take a night off but I've seen it too many times already this season.
When Brown plays with no passion, the team plays with no passion. As captain of this team he needs to realize that he doesn't have to score a ton of points to be the leader of this team. Just go out and do what you've been doing the past 2 seasons.
I'd say Quincey may have been deserving of being a King's rep. at the all-star game. He's scoring points and defending fairly well still. Doughty isn't getting many points. Really its due to Murray, however, that Kopitar isn't going. He's the most talented King of all and should be there.
Maybe he'll get there in another team's uniform next year, along with possibly Frolov.
The all-star game is a waste of a weekend, however. Either ditch it or put it at the end of the year after the Cup is decided, like the NFL Pro Bowl. And, I hear the voting is easy to cheat at, though I've never voted myself. If they're going to have this thing, at least have a better way of deciding who goes.
Yawn.
jc_9, I can't counter you on last nights game, because you're right nobody showed up. With what I saw last night, I'm going to say it was a coaching flaw. But having said that, maybe I overstated every game, and should have said most games.
Brown brings something most nights and I don't think many people will argue with that. He's top 3 in shots on goal(although I'm one who thinks he should pass more), he's top 3 in hits. Along with all his hits and hustle how many penalties has he taken? Not many. On the contrary how many penalties has he drawn? I don't know if they keep those kind of stats, but it seems time they go on the PP, it's because of Browns hustle. I also have not seen Brown make to many mistakes all year on the defensive side, making that another solid area of his game.
If the team goes as Brown goes, does that make our team crap, or does that show you how valuable he is. I think he's pretty good and is a good choice for a All-Star.
What games do you feel he took the night off? I have some games on my DVR and I'd like to go back and look at one of those games.
Anyway I'm going to the game tomorrow, so I hope Brown and every else shows up. I don't think I can take another game like yesterday.
