Dustin Brown chronicles All-Star Game

| | Comments (7) |

USA Today is publishing a series of columns this weekend from Dustin Brown about his experiences at the All-Star Game in Montreal. In the first one, Brown talks about his selection and how he feels about the game. Here's an excerpt:

``Since being named to the NHL's Western Conference All-Star team the first week of January, I have been asked a lot of questions. A lot of them have to do with whether I will be able to control myself during the game, as I like to hit a lot of guys out there on the ice.

I guess you could say that I am still trying to figure that one out. I know that this game won't allow me to hit like I normally do during a regular season game -- my normal game probably doesn't suit the NHL All-Star Game style in any way -- but maybe I will come up with something.''

The full column can be found here.

I'm just impressed that USA Today even knows hockey still exists in North America. Most "mainstream" media ignores the sport now.

Yesterday on ESPN's "Around the Horn" show, I was shocked to see them devote a segment to the NHL All Star game. Then I saw the segment. 1 guy thought his home town Caps were the best story of the first half of the NHL season because "nobody expected this team to be any good this year!". The second guy thought his home town Blackhawks were the best story of the 1st half because "they're young and good". And the 3rd guy, a reporter from L.A. thought that the Sharks were the best story. He even said "No, I'm not going to say the Kings have been a good story. I'm going up the 101 to San Jose". More Kings disrespect. Great job ESPN.

The AS Game is about showcasing talent... anyone can skate around and hit people, Brownie.

Want to make a name for yourself? Dont take any runs at defensement and just put the biscuit in the basket.

I'm sure Brownie will skate up to Ovechkin and say hi.
