Greene postgame quotes
Here's a quick postgame interview with Kings defenseman Matt Greene...
Question: You're a guy who, especially, doesn't tolerate games when the team doesn't work hard. Are you frustrated with this one?
GREENE: ``It is frustrating. I don't doubt anybody's commitment in here and I don't doubt anybody's willingness to work. It's just that some nights, it's not there. You have to wonder if it's a mental problem or if it's a lack of preparation. Tonight we just didn't have it.''
Question: What can you do to get this turned around pretty quickly?
GREENE: ``You've got to hope that everybody, as an individual at this level, comes out strong and is buying into the system. That's what creates great teams, everybody playing together and everybody working together.''
Question: Did you guys need to sit in here and talk it out a little bit?
GREENE: ``I think so. You bring up points and you let the individuals go home and work on it themselves. You're a professional, so it's time you take care of yourself and not worry about what other guys are doing.''

Come on Matt. When teams struggle like this and they get interviewed, each one of them will react with the same answer. We all know its a mental thing. How can this team look so good a few weeks ago and all of a sudden look like a bad ECHL team. This goes way beyond mental and it starts with the coaching staff. Enough said. Figure it out guys, or you will be scratched, demoted or released. Simple as that. START PLAYING WITH FOCUSED INTENSITY, WHETHER YOU AGREE WITH THE COACHES OR NOT.
What I feared in the summer is now rearing it's ugly head. This teams personal does not fit TM's style of hockey. I knew our core players were soft, but I didn't know they were this weak minded, it's rather sad.
TM should paint those dots on the offensive end and make our forwards play within those circles until they start bleeding, them make them battle some more without the puck....just for fun until they bleed some more. Then while their bleeding, maybe they'll find some balls.
Maybe TM doesn't know how to coach. Maybe if he stayed with a line for more than one shift something positive might happen. I don't know, things are so FUBAR right now, I don't know if it's the coach or the players. What I do know, is it seems TM is loosing the players a little, and if he doesn't get things under control soon, we are going to be in trouble.
Sometimes being a professional means being unprofessional as nobody is perfect and the showing of flaws to each other gives you the ability to show character and appreciate the other's.
In other words, HASH IT OUT AND GET HONEST WITH EACH OTHER! IF YOU DON'T DOUBT THE COMMITMENT AND WILLINGNESS OF THESE GUYS, THEN WHAT IS IT THAT YOU DO DOUBT THAT IS CAUSING US TO LOSE GAMES, GREENER!
Memo to you Matt: HOPING your teammates come in strong and buy into the system is something I would expect to hear from a 'newbie' rookie, NOT MY ASSISTANT CAPTAIN!
I guess my big problem with this statement is that Matt Greene, as good as I believe he is for this team, is more willing to protect his boys off the ice (Professionally) than on it (Unprofessionally). Now the bigger question...WHICH ONE WINS GAMES!?!?!
Now while you go home and work THAT out, do us a favor and lob a call to the other assistant. Tell him to pound a pint of confidence and a gallon of 'pissed off' so he can FINALLY do some frikkin damage. Tell him to watch his first goal against Pronger aboiut 100 times, maybe he'll remember how good he really is.
I'm SICK and TIRED of LOSING! DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
...end rant
I think we should be happy the wheels came off a month later than last year. If you do the math, then in about 6 years the wheels will come off after the post season is over. Yippie! Something to look forward to.
I am really disappointed in the play from the Kings last night. How is it possible that this team fails to compete on a nightly basis? They're young and should be hungry. I don't know, but they've played lackluster hockey for a while now.
Very poor game by Ersberg. I'm wondering when he was cursing to himself...was it at him or one of his own players? I would hope it was at himself because he was that bad.
These are the situations where you have a veteran goalie on the bench to talk to Ersberg and help him get through his funk. Unfortunately Barbs should have been that guy, but his poor play made sure he wouldn't be.
On to the dirty hit by Artukyn or however the hell he spells it. I spell it CHEAPSHOT. He is the biggest p*ssy going in the league.
the Kings were in a tough spot with this one. Do you go after the guy and take a penalty and put your team in a bigger hole? I like that OD went after him. Poor job by the refs for missing the dirty hit and then only penalizing OD.
I did see Ivanans lined up across from the sissy, but the wuss refused to drop the gloves with him either.
Obviously it won't be this year, but I hope they have long memories and take this guy out next year.
As for the game...more bad penalites...Stoll is starting to carve his initials in the penalty box.
Something needs to give with this team. You can make changes, but who are you replacing? Who is going to replace the guy you take out?
I think the answer has to come from within the locker room. This is a big spot in Brown's career. He's the captain and the ship is starting to take on water. How does he respond and how do the Kings respond to his leadership? I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Greene being one of the biggest disappointments last nite and for a while needs to shut up and do something or leave.Bad penalties are caused by bad decisions and lack of ability, why is MURRAY constantly playing these culprits-Greene Stoll Ivanans Calder Armstrong-DO NOT PLAY THEM! MURRAY HAS LOST THIS TEAM FIRE HIM!
I believe the defense is giving in to the lack of offense being generated. It has to be frustrating to be a d-man on this team to go out every night and bust ass to know that your offense won't score. With that being said, I think it's a foregone conclusion that their other issues are mental in nature. Some of which are:
1)Very bad penalties.
2)Keeping the front of the net cleared of loose pucks/not clearing bodies.
3)Not enough jump through the neutral zone.
4)One-touch north/south passing has been sub-par.
5)Some mediocre goaltending as of late.
Another issue the Kings may be facing is opposing teams are probably scouting their game and can counter it relatively easily since it's fairly basic in design. The Kings generally send one forechecker which doesn't always help them, either.
Once the Kings can trim down on some of their noted issues, they will start getting some wins again. They just have to want it like they did in the recent past.
The players are lost, they have lost all confidence in Murray. FIRE MURRAY! YOU NO LONGER HAVE CONTROL!
Marty
get real....They've lost confidence in TM That's why they can't play with intensity?
TM is the reason that they can't put pucks in the net or lose crucial faceoffs?
Where did you hear about the mutiny in the locker room towards Murray? I guess it's just your opinion. whatever!
So you want to bench Greene ha? Who are you replacing him with..Preissing? Yeah, that should do the trick. If you have a viable option that's different, but we don't. Greene has been fine all season for us. He's had a lousy recent stretch, so that means we should get rid of him.
Thank God you weren't the GM when Lucky had his slumps..you would have wanted him gone too.
ahhhhhhhh... the sky is falling, the sky is falling.
Well said, NY. No need to freak out. Their issues can be relatively easy to turn around. It's not anything drastic like DL traded away the farm.
Ive got some questions? maybe some of you have answer's
Is are team really that small? Cause i thought we have a few guys that "tough" guys. And i didnt have the plesure of watching all the game. Just the end. ANd it just seems like are heart is missing. I dont know what needs to happen, but something.
Please don't get me wrong and lump me in with Marty. I totally disagree with his position. TM can only direct. He doesn't lace 'em up and hold the sticks.
I was completely pissed at Greene's comments. THAT is the reason we're having issues. Complacency disguised as professionalism was my point. Professionalism is good when it's decorum or PR related. It's NOT good when it's abused to cover up issues and 'dumb down' problems. Maybe that's Greene's youth showing. I am glad he's here and in this role with the A, I just want that 'A' to stand for 'Accountable' and not 'A$$hole'.
I totally agree with the person that said this is Brown's first REAL test. If he attacks it with the same intensity and focus as he does on the ice when he hits people, some egos will get bruised, but we'll be MUCH better for it.
