Monarchs update
Some AHL news from back East...
-- The Manchester Monarchs split two games this weekend. On Friday, they lost 5-3 to Rochester at home, with goals from David Meckler, Matt Moulson and Brad Richardson. Jonathan Bernier stopped 14 of 18 shots in goal. On Saturday, they beat Portland 3-2 on the road, with goals from Meckler, Dusty Collins and Ryan Murphy. Danny Taylor stopped 26 of 28 shots.
-- Richardson, on a rehab assignment, has one goal and two assists in three games with the Monarchs. A report in the Union Leader this weekend indicated that Richardson would play only three games with the Monarchs, so perhaps a Kings roster move is on the horizon. The Monarchs next play Wednesday.
-- Richard Clune, recovered from a knee injury, returned to the lineup Saturday. Injuries have limited Clune to three games this season.
--Trevor Lewis leads the Monarchs with 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists) in 37 games. Meckler is tied for the team lead with 10 goals.

Anywhere? He's only been in one place.
Quick's record was the same as Bernier's when they brought him up. Both had played equal time.
Rich, are Mike Russo and Mad Dog Russo related.
well yeah but Quick's stats were superficially better. A slightly better GAA and SA if I recall correctly. Ofcourse, SA can be completely overrated sometimes. I give up a rebound and there are 2 more shots I save in front of the crease and all of a suddent I am 3 for 3 when in reality a no rebound is 1 for 1....
JB's probably thrilled to get the hell out of Man for a while. Manchesters D=Kings' old style "escort service" D.
Anonymous, re Quick/Bernier Manch stats:
Their GAAs were virtually identical, Bernier's slightly (1 or 2/100s of a goal) lower than Quick's at the time of Quick's promotion. Quick's SV% was higher -- around .925 compared to Bernier's .907-ish -- but, as you alluded to, Quick gives up more rebounds than Bernier (I believe the number was around 6 extra shots a game, but I would have to check), so he in that sense "creates" 20% more shots which he then must stop in order to get the same GAA as Bernier.
It makes me wish they would publish rebound stats.
