O'Donnell postgame quote

| | Comments (10) |

Here's what Sean O'Donnell said after the game regarding the Kings' reaction to Artyukhin's hit on Drew Doughty. O'Donnell immediately tried to start something with Artyukhin, but Artyukhin merely skated to the Tampa bench and O'Donnell got a cross-checking penalty...

O'DONNELL: ``I think that we didn't know until we came out that Drew was going to be out for the third period. It's only a two-goal game and you have to be careful. A two-goal deficit isn't insurmountable. You want to be careful in doing something crazy and not get a five-minute major and let them get a three-goal lead and then you're out of it.''

what a pu**y answer, once they knew the comeback wasn't happening they could have easily done something to stik up for DD.

I thought for sure that hit would have lit a fire underneath the Kings after arguably their BEST PLAYER OF THE YEAR so far gets taken out. But then what happens? No one does anything at all. Ivanans, you already got a 10 minute misconduct, do it again man! YOU ARE NOT A GOAL SCORER! Take Artyukhin out for God's sake! The punk deserves it.

He's kidding, right? You think this team had it in them to overcome a two-goal deficit, tonight? Aren't the Kings 0 for the century against Tampa Bay? Protect your teammate, especially your best defenseman! D-bags! All of them!!

bull. you don't let that guy skate away. we had 3 shots in the first 15 minutes of the 3rd... you can't tell me that avoiding a penalty was more important than defending the future of the Kings. you're a vet, stop making excuses for this team... and unless Artyukhin doesn't see the ice the rest of the game, the team has to step up and force the issue.

So why didn't Ivanans go after Art afterward? Isn't that pretty much the ONLY reason he's in our lineup?

This coming from the guy who cross checked a St Louis Blues player in the mouth during a playoff game when they ran our goalie. At least OD tried tho.

I don't understand how something like that goes unanswered. If Artyukhin doesn't want to fight then Ivanans should have just punched him in the face anyways. The game was over in the 1st period, a 5 minute major wouldn't have mattered. Why even dress an enforcer if he has to keep his hands in his pockets?

I see knee on knee and all I can think of is Allison's hit :/

Brown got man handled in front of the net by three of the TB players, nobody stepped up there either. Were starting to develop a loser mentality.

Ian Laperriere will be a free agent...The Kings need to bring him back, he would be a great replacement for Army..and I guarantee he if was still on the team, Artyukin would be on spitting out the ice chips, the next shift he was on the ice

How do you think O'Donnell knows about getting a 5-minute major that allows 3 goals for the other team?

He's done that already.

this quote confirms my theory. down a "mere" 2 goals, the Kings were trying to mount a comeback and didn't want to take any more penalties like an instigator that might derail it.

that said, the fact he was even called on that cross-checking penalty was bunk, he merely went up and gave the guy a little shove. and no too many men call, which was obvious? the refs had their heads buried during this game...
