its nice to see them get some well deserved points tonight. i'll take the positives out of this game rather than the negatives.
i really like the fact that boyle played some solid, quality 3rd period minutes tonight. maybe tm is starting to like or trust him.
Someone on one of the other threads mentioned that Stoll was benched for his penalty. It would appear Calder was, too. He only had five minutes of ice time. Zeiler had four-ish. Ivanans had more than 10 minutes, as did Boyle. Purcell around 13.
The fact of the Kings scoring four goals in a game in which Calder and Zeiler barely took a shift, and in which POS/Boyle/Purcell played a ton, is excellent news not only because we won but because it means we will see more of POS/Boyle/Purcell and less of Calder, Zeiler and, maybe even Stoll.
So what are the lines now?
Frolov/Kopitar/Simmonds
POS/Boyle/Purcell
Ivanans/Handzus/Brown
Calder/Stoll/Zeiler
Very interesting...
Frolov is so consistent. I loved Kopi's game. He looked like Kopi and that goal really seemed to boost his confidence. I like Stoll but if TM wants to sit Calder and Zeiler for more Boyle time, I am all for it. I think he will improve. Keep Bobby Ryan away from the puck next time!
So much for Frolov and Kopitar being a horrible combination, huh?
I'd like to take this:
Frolov/Kopitar/Simmonds
POS/Boyle/Purcell
Ivanans/Handzus/Brown
Calder/Stoll/Zeiler
And turn it into this:
Frolov - Kopitar - Moller/(Lewis while moller is out)
O'S - Boyle - Brown
Ivanans - Zoos - Purcell
Calder - Stoll - Simmonds
and attempt to get some even ice time for all lines. I don't think there would be a let down anywhere except possibly with Ivanans on defensive duty (but Zoos and Purcell would be there to help).
But, I like how we looked and I'm not complaining. I stoked that Murray has given Boyle the opportunity up front with some players. Absolutely fantastic.
