Game thread 2/19 vs. Sharks

DirectTV will not allow me to record channel 696 through the DVR receiver. it says 'not authorized to record' does anyone know why? if I can view it, why wouldn't I be able to record it??

Time Warner seems to have the Kings game blacked out for some reason but I can watch other games, this isnt cool!

Back to back penalties late in the first. Killed the first, although SJ looks really strong. Army with a bad hold in the offensive zone on transition. Add to that some iffy passing at we're lucky not to be down 2 or 3 to 1.

Got to love the zebras in this game. See that phantom penalty on Stoll? Sharks' Grier got high-sticked by his own teammate, but they put the Kings one man short. Talk about giving the home team (and the team higher in the standings) a benefit of the doubt! Maybe the refs will even it up and call a phantom penalty on the Sharks in the 2nd or 3rd periods.

2 crap calls by the refs. What the hell? OD and Stoll man this piss's me off.......

Got the game for free this week on Center Ice..just look on you menu in search type in NHL Center Ice and find the Sharks vs Kings...it was easy.
As for the game...bad call on the Stoll penalty....duh...and Army took a stupid penalty there...isn't that what ivanans got benched for?

reminds me of when Frolov got elbowed full force square in the face in the 1st period last night... no call. the Ducks had 2 soft PP early and Kings had 0 before the stripes decided to start calling it both ways.

That goal when Doughty didn't stop the puck resulted when Gauthier gave up the puck in the corner on a routine play.

Didn't see much of the game, just the last few minutes, but taking out San Jose on the road in a back to back situation is a tall order for any team in the league this season.
The points are too important to lose because of the SO losses of the weekend, though.

Tough to see the Kings making the postseason after losses like these, but they're not going to win every game until the end of the season.
Maybe, come the end of March, they can go on that run. : )

Just to piss you off. If you actually paid attention, you'd realize that we hit there captain, and the odds were they were going after one of our top guys, which they tried.

This was a tough game to watch. The Sharks are the better team, we looked like a tired bunch from the back to back, and the referees were inconsistent all night. The Sharks got more leeway than the Kings did.

That third period had only 5 shots between both teams.

This isn't our year to compete for a cup, conversely, it is theirs.

I wasn't expecting points out of tonight's game, but I do on Saturday. That is a huge one. Phoenix could tie in points, although we'd have two games in hand. We could open it up more on them and move toward the playoffs in the process.

It's also the second game in two nights. We are tired and the players are skating like it. Just trying to get more guys a rest on the back end of two in a row is my guess.

The refs kinda sucked as far as BS charging calls on clean hits but at least they evened those up with roughing calls on the fish. Kings def should have had a couple more Power Plays.
The sad truth is that the Sharks dominated the slot in the Kings offensive zone and didn't allow the Kings ANY chances at rebounds in front of Nabokov. All of the SJ goals came from right in the prime scoring areas with the Kings D looking clueless. Sharks just seem too big and fast for the Kings D to handle. . .kinda like the Ducks looked 2 years ago. Oh, well. SJ has only lost something like 2 games at home all season, did you really expect them to start choking now?

Refs punked us 4 times tonight.

Goat's his was LEGAL! I may not like him, but his elbow was tucked against his body and the only reasons there's a headshot was because Marleau was trying to tie his shoes! (He was bent over)

Army's hit was LEGAL! The bum he hit saw him coming and turned his back to protect the puck. Can't blame Army for that one. At least they got a rough to even it up.

Zatkoff followed by Lindan Rowat? Quick played against the Ducks the night before. Coach made the right decision. It was the second of back-to-back games. No use popping a vein over it.

And lay off of Doughty. He's a rookie. As if we even expected him to be playing this well this early in his career.

Kings had to pick up the hitting to slow the Sharks down. It was their gameplan. Hit Marleau, hit Setoguchi and hit their skill players. You can't play your top six all the time.

And lastly. The Refs are what they are. Let it go. When has arguing with a ref ever made one change their minds.

It's over, and the Kings played respectable. They just didn't win. On to the Stapler and let's hope they stick it to the Coyotes.

you're right. it's a good measuring stick. we know we can beat the Ducks, we know we can move ahead of the Ducks (permanently) but we're not yet in the Sharks realm. this seems obvious to say, but the good news is that we don't have all that much farther to go despite they're at their peak and phenomenal at home. keep working boys
