National attention for Quick

Funny what a couple NHL ``first star'' awards will do for a young player...

Jonathan Quick was the subject of a couple national stories today, one by the Canadian Press and the other by Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com.

More bad news for Bernier.

But I'm having too much fun watching all these wins.
Who would ever begin to imagine we'd be scoreboard watching at this time.
Or am I being too premature.

Thanks for the links, Rich - and thanks for the game chat - t'was fun -

So, any update on how many players have the flu - should be REAL nice after a 5 1/2 hour flight

I wouldn't consider Quick's play as bad news for Bernier, Zatkoff, Jones or any other goalie prospect. Competition for LA's #1 goalie spot is healthy. It is something that should be earned and will make those in contention raise their level of play. It's nice to have a goalie prospect pool with great potential for a change.

I love that the Kings are doing well but the kid has only been in net for a few weeks. Granted he has been outstanding!!! Just dont want to get ahead of ourselfs here. I think the puck looks like a Beach Ball to him now. I think the test is when he has a few bad games how will he react now that is when we know we have a #1
Then there is Moller, man he is Prolly kicking himself for play'n the world jr's. Because if I was TM I wouldnt change a thing......

The Kings are for real! So watch that scoreboard.

As mentioned earlier, the Kings depth in goal is a huge positive. I certainly wouldn't count out Bernier as eventually being the teams number one goalie. Just give him some time.

I hope this helps drive the ambitions for Bernier, not act as a catalyst for defeat. He can still make it in the NHL, when he's on his game, he's a blast to watch in Manchester.

QUICK: "I'm in a situation that not a lot of people get to enjoy, so I've got to enjoy every day and try to take advantage of it."

And that you have!

Keep on going.

There hasn't been an all-California playoff series, either. Kings-Sharks, anyone?

Actually, there has been a all Cali playoff Pierre.

Rich -- these non-LA stories are very interesting, particularly since the LA papers don't have reporters go to the road games. For example, I really enjoyed reading the Newark paper's take on the Kings game with the Devils. Would it be much work for you to add a link to the opposing team's home newspaper's story in your game report?

Naturally after reading the articles, I flipped over to ESPN and did some scoreboard watching myself. Tonight for example....

Montreal - 2
Edmonton - 7

Tough to do but you've got to pull for the Canadiens here, right???

Also, we get the Flames on the back end of a back to back two game swing through Anaheim and LA, so they'll be weary. Same thing, gotta pull for the Flames tonight against the Ducks.

Long story short, it looks like we'll all be scoreboard watching from here on in.....Keep it up!

Go Kings!
