Purcell quotes (and more)

| | Comments (4) |

Courtesy of the Kings' website, here are some quotes from Teddy Purcell, who addresses the biggest knock against his game (as addressed by Dean Lombardi on this blog last week...)

PURCELL: ``With the new coaching staff, it is really big on defense and that checking part of the game and that is one of the areas I need to work on and when I was up here last time, I felt I got more comfortable with that and did a better job of being consistent but I went down and worked on some of those things and I'm being rewarded again up here. I think they know that I'm an offensive player. I just have to go out and do the checking side of the game and be good in my own zone and the offense will take care of itself.''

More quotes, from more players, can be found here. I'll try to get Terry Murray on the phone before tomorrow's game against Philadelphia, because that game probably has some extra personal significance to him.

He's exactly right. Take care of the defensive and checking side of the game and you'll be fine Teddy.

Well we will see Teddy. I am a fan of his and absolutely still consider one of the core players for the future. He clearly knows what he has to do....just do it. I dont care if he wins the battles right now (weird to say) but please just have them. Even if he gets knocked around get into the corners, fore check, and hit if that is asked. Battle - win or lose...the coaches clearly want to see the effort and understanding of his role...same goes for Boyle btw!

right on point...

that's all we want to see...
teddy needs to be responsible...
give us a reason to keep the faith...
furthermore...
give d.l. a reason not to offer you on the market...
unfortunately, yr 23 going on 24...yr not a kid anymore in hockey rookie terms...yr running out of opps...
please make the most of this one...
even if you don't score, be productive and play mistake free...
good luck...~!

your right he isnt a kid anymore persay but I am not sure we have as many offenses forces behind him as we think. Moulson and Boyle are both the same age...personally Moulson is a 3rd line player and I still think Boyle CAN BE a 2nd line player but what else. I love Lewis personally so i am biased there to judge...Azedo (sp)..maybe...Lotikev...way to early to tell...Meckler? Holloway? ummmm, personally I would guess no. As such, I believe we need to hold onto Purcell...he MIGHT be the only potential high end sniper in the system right now...am I wrong with this?
