Stick with Quick

The Kings, not surprisingly, will stay with Jonathan Quick in goal Saturday against the Islanders. Quick was named the NHL's first star for the week ending Sunday, and even though Terry Murray talked recently about the possibility of getting Erik Ersberg into a game, it doesn't seem that it will happen any time soon, at least while Quick continues to thrive...

MURRAY: ``We're staying with (Quick). That's the one area that I'm least likely to tamper with, when it gets going the way it is. We'll let him stay with it.''

Question: With him being a young guy, a rookie, do you have to watch how much he plays, so that he doesn't get worn down right now?

MURRAY: ``That's something I always keep an eye on. I don't know him well enough yet to know how he feels about that, but it can take NHL goalies a long time to figure that out for themselves. His game is at a high level right now, and he's bringing the same thing to practice. He brings a lot of competitiveness and adrenaline to the practices and the games. He does a lot of work in practice and after practice and really digs in. There's nothing there to make us think his play is slipping because he's playing too much.''

thought Ersberg might go. not dissapointed either way, but thought if they're going to start Erik then this is the most likely game to do so. we have Calgary at home on Thurs which will be a real challenge. gonna wear him down at some point...

It's a tough call. It's coming down to the wire, they need all the points they can get, and Quick has shown nothing to suggest he isn't up to the challenge. However, one needs to look no further than what Columbus did to Steve Mason.

I disagree with TM on this one. The Kings are in no position to take any team lightly as it would be the pot calling the kettle black, but the Islanders are not as formidable as New Jersey and Washington, they just aren't. I also think the toughest game isn't the last on a road trip, but the first game back at home after a road trip. This would've been a good time to give Ersberg some confidence and Quick a rest for that tough first home game against Calgary, no less.

But Murray's run with one goalie (whoever's hot at the time) all season...why would you expect he'd switch now. I don't expect to see Ersberg til one of the back-to-backs with Anaheim and San Jose next week.

Quick is playing so close to home - I wonder how many of his fans and family will be in attendance.

what Quisp said. and that's a lotta games.

I don't see us starting Ersberg cold against the Ducks. could flip-flop them, but Quick needs to play against SJS IMHO. unless they go Ersberg against the ATL

We are winning, our goalie is hotter than hot and yet I sense some of you are wavering and questioning whether or not we should stick with Quick.

Unfrigginbelievable.

This attitude is part of the losing culture here in LA that Deano is trying admirably to reverse. Stop with the looser mentality already!

You guys simply fail to see than we have a potentially incredible goalie in the making that has, as the coach pointed out, no sign of slipping. None.

This means we encourage Quick to kick ass. I, for one, am routing big time for this kid. I could tell long ago he wants it bad and he grabbed it and ran with it. His attitude is something I have wanted between the pipes here in LA for a long long time.

And now we have it.

Be not just happy. Be ecstatic!!!
