Ersberg (also) happy to return

Shortly after news of Sean O'Donnell's contract extension broke yesterday morning, Jim Fox reported that Erik Ersberg had signed a two-year extension. It's for $1.5 million. Ersberg has a 2.49 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage in 24 games (21 starts) this season. Here's what Ersberg said about his new contract...

Question: Were you concerned, leading up to the deadline (that you might be traded)?
ERSBERG: ``I tried not to think too much about it. I heard something about it, but it's a lot of rumors. You can't control it anyway, so I didn't really think about it.''
Question: So you weren't watching all the potential trades (Tuesday) night?
ERSBERG: ``I was watching, as always, because I think you want to see what's going on around the league and perhaps with your team too. But I knew I was going to finalize this (Wednesday) morning, so I didn't have to worry about myself too much. That was nice.''
Question: Was it important for you to get a two-year deal, to have a little more security there?
ERSBERG: ``It was nice to get a two-year deal. Pretty much, not for my whole career but for the last five or six years, I've always had one-year deals, so it's kind of nice that I don't have to worry about that next year and in the summer. It's a good feeling.''
Question: You can finally feel like this is home a little bit?
ERSBERG: ``Yeah, I really like it here. I get along well with the guys on the team and I think we've got a young, promising team here. So it's nice to be here for two more years and see what happens.''

this is a fantastic deal by d.l. and for the team...
great terms and easy to move...in the worst (or best) case scenarios...
the o.d. and ersberg signings were great...
and d.l.'s deserves props for those regardless how you feel about the sully/jw controversy...

In a perfect world, would it be too much to ask for DL to go after Victor Hedman too? GO KINGS!
Glad that Ersberg and O'Donnell where resigned.
Good for you ICE BERG you deserve it! I think it is great we have got him he plays his rear off....
This is really nice to hear. Personally I think Ersberg and Quick make a great tandom (kinda wish Erik would get some more playing time) and I'm really excited to have the Swede for another two years!
I`m really happy for EEEZ,and the Kings.I think he`s a little underrated.
Great!
Glad both have signed. Good for Lombo.
Wonder if EE will start tonite?
Two good character guys to have on the team. Nice price for Ersberg, too.
I've liked EE since seeing him last year in the Habs game. Someone blasted a wicked slapshot that caught him in the head and his helmet came flying off. You could hear the contact throughout the rink. Ers was groggy for a few minutes but he shook it off finished up a good game for us.
Is it a one-way deal or a two-way deal?
Right now on the Sully/Williams poll the no votes are 666. Not sure what that means. lol
The yes votes are slightly behind (but the poll is still at 50-50). With all the moaning & groaning you'd think the no's would outpace the yeses by 80-20.
I think this poll, as well as the others that Rich runs that are overwhelmingly in favor of DL and TM show that the negative people just like to comment over and over. There are many more people, I think, who comment sporadically (or not all, but vote in the polls) who are in favor of and happy with the direction of this team.
I don't think it would be a 2 way deal. Since he would be UFA, there would be no incentive to sign now.
I wonder how all this plays with Bernier for next year? I would guess he's getting another year in Manchester. DL's plan for goalies is 2 years AHL. He rushed it a little with Quick.
Who knows? Bernier could be a part of that blockbuster trade that a lot of people seem to want.
I like both of these signings, especially the Ersberg two-year deal. I'd like to see him stick around for both years, but if Bernier emerges we might be able to get something decent for Ersberg in a trade.
Nice picture... It is from when he played in sweden, for a team called HV71 in Jonkoping, my hometown :)
