Practice update (Greene is OK)
Matt Greene was quoted on the Kings' website talking about his head-save from Monday night
GREENE: ``I blocked the first one and I was getting my head up to see where the puck went. Once I looked up I saw the shot coming right back at me, so I tried to get my face out of the way but it didn't work. ... I just got up and didn't really realize what it was, what it looked like. Maybe I was just punch-drunk but I was just trying to get off the ice; that was about it.''
In non-bloody news, Raitis Ivanans practiced and skated on the ``healthy scratch'' line with Richardson and Zeiler. He's still on injured reserve.

Not in rush to get the rat back I hope. I like what west has brought the last two games. Looks to me like he's a better skater but I have heard that many do not think he's as good of a fighter. Playoffs and playoff runs...lots of hitting and rough play but not as many fights. I would like to see west the rest of the year. Army West and Calder looked good as a fourth line option I thought they cycled the puck real well and created some chances. What do you guys think
Ya,
I dont see a reason to rush Ivanans back... Let's dish em out in the offseason.
i'd be more worried about the condition of the puck than Greener
Well, Zeiler is a better skater than Westgarth, want to keep him instead? Personally, I'd rather have Raitis on our team than skating against us, he'd eat Westgarth for breakfast. Raitis is a good skater, great fighter, two game winners this year, how many goals last year? Coach likes him, I hope they resign him!! I think I'll go on youtube and make a "leave Raitis alone" video............
I agree with not rushing Ivanans back into the lineup.. Westgarth is holding his ground..
Please Dave... How many of Ivanans penalty minutes actually came from fighting this year? he's the master of the bearhug holding penalty.
And keeping Calder on the 4th line is a good idea..
Keep Ivanas on the bench, and please, please, don`t resign him.
OlD man-
I hear ya section 112!
I saw Greener a short time ago at the Kings' Kaboom playground event, and you can't even tell he got hit with anything.
I say Sign Ivanans to an Ovechkin type contract but front load the first 5 years.
yes, but they're GREAT bearhug holding penalties. Honestly, other than his size and I suppose the size of his heart, I don't know what Murray sees in him. I'm just a fan, I've not been to any of the fan fest type deals, I have heard/read that he's a nice guy (like most hockey players). Seems like actually his fights are down this year from last year. I have no reasonable/rational excuse, I'm just an Ivanans fan, I like the guy. I'm not going to go all Anthony hear and try and defend him, because that would be ridiculous and I'd lose every arguement. He's just one of my favorite Kings. Plus, if I ever do get to meet him, then I can tell him I had his back all year through Rich's blog. So, I'm putting the finishing touches on my "Leave Raitis Alone" video, look for it on You Tube. I'll be draped in the Latvian flag and wearing one of those big furry hats and pounding down vodka.
This is from the Ducks website & their blog page:
It makes me sick to my stomach to say this, but I'm jealous of the L.A. Kings right now.
That's right, for the first time in four seasons, I'm jealous of the Kings.
I'm sure in time it will pass, but right now there is some serious resentment going on. Last night the Kings just won their third game in a row, something the Ducks haven't done since (wait, this can't be right) Nov. 30. The first two were against a Dallas team and a Minnesota team the Ducks failed to beat the very next night. And last night they pulled it off against a Vancouver team that had won 12 of its last 14, a 3-2 to victory that was sealed with the help of a heroic effort by defenseman Matt Greene in the final seconds.
With the Kings gripping onto that one-goal lead, Greene went down to block a shot from Alex Burrows, and was still down when he blocked another Burrows shot -- this one with his face. With the clock ticking toward triple-zero, he got back up to rejoin the play before the buzzer sounded. He skated over to congratulate his goalie, Jonathan Quick, and finally headed to the bench looking like this (much to the obvious shock of Quick).
Anyone who saw the play immediately wanted Matt Greene on their team. Or, they immediately wanted one of their guys to be Matt Greene.
And just to add to the jealousy, Heidi Androl on the Kings Live postgame show on FSN West? Good ... God.
Thanks to those three straight wins, the purple and black are sitting one point behind the Ducks in the standings in 12th place, with one fewer game played.
