Roller hockey tournament to benefit little girl
A reader e-mailed me to tell me about a tournament at the Roller Dome this Sunday in Thousand Oaks. The tournament benefits a roller hockey player's daughter, Quinn, who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia.
Here's the address and directions:
950 Avenida de los Arboles
Thousand Oaks, CA 91360
Here's the website: http://rollerdome.com/
Rollerdome (aka the North Oaks Sports
Center) is
in Thousand Oaks. It's off the 23 freeway. To get there (from LA)
you
would take the 101 to the 23 North. Exit Avenida de Los Arboles and
make
a left (under the freeway). It's about two miles up the road (to the
left). You'll pass one stoplight and two stop signs. Basically,
you'll
drive by a bunch of houses, and the first gas station and shopping
center
you see on the left is it.

Love the Rollerdome.. Played there for years when I was younger. Still have a great league.
I'm not sure if they still have the wooden floors at the Roller Dome, but that was one of my favorite rinks to skate at back when I lived in Ventura County. The burrito joint located inside the same strip mall is pretty wicked too. I encourage anyone who is thinking about playing at the Roller Dome to definitely get out there, especially considering that it is all going towards a VERY special cause this weekend...
You need to call, 805.493.8800 if you want to get picked up to play on a team, or have a team. The cost is $35/player.
I guy at the dome said $35. Here is more info from the Acorn.
A fundraiser for 2-year-old Quinn Kiera McMurtry of Oak Park will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sun., March 15 at the Rollerdome, 950 E. Avenida De Los Arboles, Thousand Oaks.
Quinn was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia and is undergoing cancer treatment at Childrens Hospital. Funds raised at the event will help pay for medical costs.
She is the daughter of Brian and Rachel McMurtry.
The event will have a silent auction with sports and hockey memorabilia, including a Wayne Grezky signed and framed LA Kings photo, concert tickets, jewelry, Kids Webkinz, and a signed Hannah Montana soundtrack.
The cost is $40 per player. For more information, call Dave Seriani at (805) 493-8800.
Linky no worky.
Hey Rich,
I know this is non-pertinant to this thread, but I was wondering if you could answer one last question that I just thought of. I was just wondering if you anything about whether or not the Kings are going to stick with their current uniforms or switch to the new alternate ones at some point. I like the new ones way better, much more sleek and tough!
Thanks!
It is sport court now. ;) It's still a fun surface. Just a small rink. The Mariscos place on the corner of the strip mall is my fav.
It is in my hopes that the little girl gets better soon....I would love to play (even though I have not played roller in years) but I am in Tx. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
hey so many hockey experts on this blog I say we put a team together and go support maybe rich can come cover it and possibly chalange a rival ducks team at the same time.? (Anthony heres your chance)
Jill, it would be great if you could set up a fund all of us could donate to and then pass on the funds to the McMurtrys. Or, if you know of a site where we can enter a Credit Card number and do it directly.
hfb4g.
Good idea.
I'd like to take Hammond into the corner and "delete" him, all while helping a good cause.
Is there a link to signing up for a team?
Where can we send the money/credit-card #?
cristobal - you can donate at the rink or through talbertfamilyfoundation.org under Quinn McMurtry.
Just call the rink and they can add you to a team. As of now they have 6 rec teams and 8 premier teams, but not all of the teams are full.
Thanks Jet.
I don't know if I'll be able to play, but I will definitely donate.
I really appreciate that you posted the ".org" site.
cheers.
Jet,
I don't see the "Quinn" section on the Talbert site.
Where do I look?
Thanks.
I can play forward or defense I have a goalie and a few guys r getting back to me so let me know?

variable - LA so, actually the schools back east are twice as costly, hence the likely choice. There will still be work and loans. Just hope he doesn't end up a Sharks fan.
Thanks for reposting.
Jet, got it.
Thanks for that.
Leukemia, a type of blood cancer that really cost lot of money to diagnose and cure. But if your love ones is having this kind of cancer I know you’ll do everything just not to lose her/him. But I tell you it will cause you piles of medical bills and credit loans and in time you know it you cannot afford to pay them all. But don’t lose hope there is what we call debt consolidation. If you have bills that are piling up faster than you can pay them, then debt consolidation might be just the thing for you. Credit cards and medical bills are among the biggest ones that pile up quickly, especially medical. Medical bills pile up quickly, especially if you have to have any sort of procedure done. (Hey – country clubs need money too.) You do not want medical bills going to collections – it will affect your credit rating and possibly treatment if you have to go to the same hospital. If you don't want to have to repair your credit later, you may want to get your medical bills into debt consolidation. Hence, debt consolidation should only be used to pay off real debt, meaning a lump sum that you owe and are trying to pay off.
