Big night in the AHL
The Manchester Monarchs enter the night in fifth place in the Atlantic Division but just one point out of a two-way tie for third place.
Tonight the Monarchs host Springfield, which is seventh (last) in the division. Portland and Worcester, which are tied for third, also play. Portland plays at Lowell, which is sixth in the division and four points out of fourth place, while Worcester travels to Albany, which is in sixth place in the East Division.
Manchester hosts Worcester tomorrow and plays at Providence on Sunday.

it would be great for the monarchs to not only get into the playoffs, but play well enough to make a run at the calder cup....
it only helps all our prospects futures when they can chalk up valuable playoff experience at the minor league level...
jet...
very cool stuff...!!!
those wacky, zany, wacky swedes...!!!
Bernier comes through with a shutout, 5th of the season.
Unfortunately, Portland won and Worchester is winning their game.
Good win for the Monarchs - but unfortuately the team didn't gain any points, game against Worcester tomorrow night is going to be huge.
Annnnddd.. once again, Trevor Lewis comes up big..
he better make the big club next season
Can anyone give some good reports on how Voinov, Hickey, and some of the other prospects are looking these days?
Why dont the kings send Boyle, Drewiske, and Purcell down now....The kings are out of the playoffs and the monarchs are out by one point. Hope they realize it would be good for the organization to have them get playoff experience
Matt -
Your comment makes sense to me, it appears as though the Kings would prefer these guys to get experience in the NHL.
So given the Monarchs situation in the standings, April 11th could be the last game of the season for both the Kings and the Monarchs. I would think the players you mentioned might be better served if they came back to Manchester (say for tonights game v Worcester), helped the Monarchs get into the playoffs and thus get playoff experience.
Agreed, guys.
Zeiler, Harrold, Richardson can finish out the season here while those guys could actually make a playoff appearance.
The handling of Boyle is absolutely baffling. Seriously.
I think everyone interested might read Duckhunter's comments at the bottom of the "Turn Out The Lights" section. Really well thought out comments.
